ScEBlack1 Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Which folder is were the skins are for the game, i want to take a few out and add some different ones. I used modman to load some skins but they dont show up at all.
Deadman Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 (edited) Use Modman's CDDS brouser to look in and extract skins from C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\Bazar\World look in BMP.CDDS folders there are three or so Edited October 3, 2008 by Deadman https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
Majesco Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Almost all skins for planes in the game are compressed in .CDDS you find them in Bazar\ World folder: + WorldTexturesBMP1.cdds + WorldTexturesBMP.cdds + worldtexturesbmp2.cdds Using Modman 6's CDDS Explorer to view them but if you want to replace the old ones, put your new skins in Bazar\ TempTextures folder
ScEBlack1 Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 (edited) Ok i use the modman cdds explorer to open the files:+ WorldTexturesBMP1.cdds,+ WorldTexturesBMP.cdds,+ worldtexturesbmp2.cdds and i see most of my F-15 skins are in the file "worldtexturesbmp2.cdds" in order to take most of them out do i highlite them and hit extract button, then use the modman to place new ones back in? Could someone walk me through how to take out most of the skins and place new ones in? thanks Edited October 3, 2008 by =ScE=Black1
OldCrow Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 When u have found and edited the textures you wanted to edit, you simply place the edited textures in the bazar\temp textures folder. You dont have to compress them back to the cdds file. [sIGPIC]http://www.virtualredarrows.com/member_sigs/vra2012_crow.png[/sIGPIC]
Deadman Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 That depends on the files and system for best performance is best to put them in to CDDS temp texture uses three time the resources. I am not sure what he id=s doing to put the skins back in to CDDS you can make a modman pack most skins are published this way . or you can insert one at a time with modman just point modman to where you have the skin stored and then point it to the CDDS folder where it goes https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

I used modman to load some skins but they dont show up at all. Jessi, Are those skins actually missing or do you mean that you don't see the new skin names listed? If the latter, they might well be there. The skin names themselves aren't changed, only the skin the name refers to. Each aircraft has a limited number of skin slots listed 0-? and some skins are even created by blending two other skin slots. So, if you haven't clicked each skin for the aircraft in question to check it, you might want to do so. ScEBlack1 Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 Its a bit confusing, in game i see names for my eagle skins, but, the skins themselves that i put in modman properly do not show up. The old skins so to speak are there but not the new ones. The only new one that does is the one i manually placed in the bazaar/world/temp textures folder. I see this one and it works but when i click on say another skin in the game i get a tail that is different from the actual skin. I would like to take out all my eagle skins (by using modman cdds i guess) and replace them with fresh skins, is this safe, possible, correct way to do this? I would like to take the skins that are in those 6 slots allocated for skins and replace them so the tails and colors are correct, hope you understand what i would like to accomplish.
Ironhand Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I understand what you're trying to do. Unfortunately I'm at work and can't look for myself. I'm not sure but I think some Eagle skins are composits of two other skins. That might be why, with some, you are seeing most but not all of your skin. Those composit skins share the basic fuselage and wings but have different noses and tails. The one skin that will always be a somplete skin for any aircraft is the "0" skin--it's the one without a number as part of the name. When I get home tonight, I'll take a look, if I have time. Unfortunately (or fortunately from my point of view) I leave on vacation tomorrow, so I'll have a lot of other things to do. ScEBlack1 Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 No problem Ironhand, i appreciate the help but dont want to burden you. Just enjoy your vacation.
Ironhand Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 (edited) ...The one skin that will always be a complete skin for any aircraft is the "0" skin--it's the one without a number as part of the name... Took a quick look and the above isn't entirely true for the F-15. I can understand your confusion. Unfortunately I don't have time to figure it out tonight. Your best bet would be to PM someone who has painted a lot of F-15 skins. They should be able to tell you how they fit together. The wings and fuselage are composed of two files marked "R" and "L" in their name. But several of the skins have one of those files in one CDDS file and the other in a 2nd CDDS file. So it's easy to get confused. Additionally some (or perhaps all) F-15 skins have their own tail fin files. EDIT: I checked further. It looks like there are 4 or 5 complete skins but 11 different skins are available in the sim. So most, if not all, of the skin files have components that are shared across two or more in-game skins. ScEBlack1 Posted October 4, 2008 Author Posted October 4, 2008 Thanks Ironhand for your help, i think to make things clean and easy i will simply leave it alone, i like a few so i will use those for now and save the hassle, appreciate your help.
