There are myriad historic missions involving the Mossie, including

  • Operation Jericho (to liberate French resistance fighters being held in Amiens Prison in German-occupied France )
  • The mission to bomb the radio building in Berlin to coincide with Göring's speech)
  • Operation Oyster (bombing of the Philips radio and valve/tube factory in Eindhoven, Netherlands)
  • Operation Carthage (attack on a Gestapo HQ in Copenhagen, Denmark)
  • Practice with the Barnes Wallis bouncing bomb (I don't believe this capability was ever deployed - only practiced)
  • Recreate the fictional mission from the classic film 633 Squadron.
  • Did I miss any?

I realize not all of these missions were flown by the FB MkVI variant of the Mosquito being modelled for DCS, but I would be curious to see how many will be included with the Mossie when ED releases it?

Missing element....

Maps

Amiens is quite close to the coast - haven’t checked, but I did hear that it is on the Channel map

Personally, I think Razbam’s South Atlantic map would make a perfect stand in for the Norwegian coast.

BUT it’s a very long flight to the fjords. Have asked on the Raz forum whether there would be a friendly airfield in Chile to refuel from 😉 - not sure that Mossies ever returned via Russia, but I know 617 did from their first Tirpitz raid

Historic in the sense that the FBVI flew them, though maybe not historic in a famous / iconic moment sense.

Intruder / Flower / Ranger missions as described in Dave McIntosh's "Terror in the Starboard Seat"

V1 hunting

Train busting

Coastal Command rocket attacks on shipping

Also, didn't several squadrons support the Dieppe Raid as well?

Using the airplane as a night fighter, a function which it performed, of course. Setting up JU88's around the map and hunting them down, using the map as RADAR and trying to find them in the dark. Might be fun.
