because the version we have is a post 1992 version.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like there to be a tail gun as well, but I'm fairly certain that ED modeled it on the ones that existed after 1992

Personally I'd love an 80s version of the B-52G or H.

But yeah ED have done one that is post 1992, just like our Tu-95MS is actually a Tu-95MSM circa >2011, based on the carriage of the Kh-65SE (called Kh-65 in DCS).

Unfortunately ED don't pay a lot of attention to the exact variant with some of the assets.

I know they modled the h post 1992. However if I am chasing down a buff in a mig-21 Bis in 1975 it should have guns.

Agree, earlier B-52 model would be great. Nearly all relevant B-52 career happened before 1992 - with tail gun. Cold War airborne nuclear alert patrols - Head Start, Chrome Dome, Hard Head, Round Robin, Giant Lance. Vietnam war with 17 B-52 being shot down (and their gunners shot down 2 MiG-21), Desert Storm where B-52 dropped some 40% of the coalition munitions.

After the Cold War add collapse of the Soviet Union B-52 operated only in zero threat environment without a single plane being lost, ceased their 24-hour SAC alert duty, their defensive armament had been removed and all B-52G had been destroyed.

Exactly, plus an 80s variant (or earlier) is way more suitable for our current playable REDFOR.
