dave_pilot Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Game version: 2.7.1.7139 (Steam) Description of the bug: if the fps would be higher than the maxFPS value in the graphics.lua file, they will be capped at 65fps. for example, this happens when i set my graphics settings to LOW, where my fps would exceed 180 fps in some scenarios, and then they are capped to 65. Also, if i fly very high and fps are rising, they suddenly drop down to 65 too, if they would reach 180. if my fps are below 180 then there's no problem and i really have a normal amount of fps (150fps for example). this happens in the main menu and ingame and can be reproduced every time. i have included a dxdiag file. i understand that fps are capped to a specific value, but it doesn't make sense that they are cut down to a third of the max fps value. i would expect fps are capped at 180fps and stay there. Flappie Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Hi. I bet your custom Export.lua file is the culprit. It's located here: "C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS...\Scripts\Export.lua". Rename this file so the game cannot find it, and see if it fixes your issue. Here's a recent thread about this kind of issue: ---
toby23 Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 (edited) I hope you can help.. I have this issue too on a fresh install of DCS on a new system. There are no mods installed and no Winwing software or similar. If I look at the sky, the FPS goes up to 100 but as soon as I look out through the cockpit, it goes down to 45fps again, which it shouldn't. This is my system - Ryzen 5800X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060, Windows 10. I do not have an export.lua file (no mods) and I have tried editing the MaxFPS = false in graphics.cfg but it doesn't change anything. My settings are modest for this system, so I should, in theory, be seeing much better performance. There are no hard fps locks in Nvidia Control Panel or in RTSS, which is set to 0 on a global basis as I have a GSync monitor running at 144hz. Flappie Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 (edited) You should have opened a new thread since you doesn't seem to have FPS capping. Try getting rid of SSAA in the game options: set it to Off instead of x1.5. Edited September 3, 2021 by Flappie ---
toby23 Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 (edited) That did it, kind of. FPS now hovering around 85fps on Spitfire > Quick Start > Free Flight > Caucasus. Can you tell me why SSAA is costing me >25+fps? It shouldn't be hitting that hard. Thank you for helping by the way, I appreciate it. Flappie Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Good. Supersampling is killing FPS in DCS, that's a known fact. See here: ---
toby23 Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Thanks, it's been a while since I was last here flying... I was mixing it up with transparency antialiasing.. no need to upscale.. Ryzen 5800X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060
Flappie Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Yes, nowadays it's all AA this and AA that. ---
