I don't think it will run too good but it will run but you may not like the result.
Revelation Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Best thing you can do is increase your ram to compensate. Your processor will hinder you as will the video card. Though you should be able to play it. Turn your settings down and good luck. Win 10 Pro 64Bit | 49" UWHD AOC 5120x1440p | AMD 5900x | 64Gb DDR4 | RX 6900XT
aaron886 Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Not to hijack the thread, but what about HP dv9000 Core 2 Duo T8100, 2.1GHz, 800MHz FSB 3GB DDR2 RAM @600MHz (Vista 32. :| ) 512Mb NVideo Geforce Go 8600M GS I run lockon FC right now, low settings, at ~40 FPS, which surprises and disappoints me. Any ideas on that front? I suspect the processor, but the RAM might be killing me as well... What engine does DCS run on and is it "cleaned" significantly from the FC engine? It seems LockOn is still part of the CPU-intensive era, wheras the future is graphics card intensive.
Kuky Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 aaron886, it is the CPU that's lacking the most but also the RAM in laptops (and also the CPU) run on much lower FSB speed, in your case it's only 300MHz where normall Core 2 Duo's run at 333MHz FSB default and then again they can overclock well but not in laptops. Now since ED have stated that BS will be runnig same but optimised graphics engine I am guessing you'd be running BS same as LOFC as for what ever improvements has been made in game coding (they switched to DirectX9 in BS) there is lot more things to calculate in BS due to higher complexity in simulation of various things (AFM, Avionics etc) PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
Airway Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Good question, mikoyan but iMac tells me that there is Apples OS running on it and in that case I don't think it will run even if it would with low settings on the hardware with Windows as OS.
element1108 Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 If you have bootcamp on a MAC (Intel based Processor) then you can partician your drive and install windows XP or vista no problems. Boot up the windows and you can install and play any and all pc applications and games. The good news is most of the time apps running through bootcamp actually run faster on a mac (Frames per second for a game for instance). Such is the case playing Warbirds on a mac I get a way higher frame rate (like 180fps) vs 74fps my buddy uses with a very similar setup. Anyway that being said you're below on the processor side (min I think was 2.4ghz) Hopefully it'll work out for you...if it doesn't, you're next computer will :)

Though as best I can tell, my CPU is running at 800MHz. I sure hope I can find a way to remedy my CPU troubles.
telepathiclove Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Though as best I can tell, my CPU is running at 800MHz. I sure hope I can find a way to remedy my CPU troubles. That can happen if you started the PC without the power supply connected. A lot of laptops put themselves in to a kind of low performance mode when they are started on just the battery. If you restart the laptop with it connected to the mains, then it should go to it's full speed. If you can run FC at low settings, my guess is that BS will run at low settings too. To be honest none of the components are terrible but none of them are good either unfortunately. Both the CPU and Graphics Card / chip are the most important components and they are pretty slow. It is good spec for a laptop though, just not very good for a gaming machine. Personally if I was you, I would consider putting together a proper gaming PC. Gaming on a laptop is just like fighting a losing battle in my opinion, unless you have lots of cash.
