Leg2ion Posted June 19, 2021 Posted June 19, 2021 If of any use to anyone UK based looking for a new GPU - appears CCL Computing has had a large drop of GPUs - both AMD and Nvidia. Hopefully not breaking any rules putting the word out. AMD Ryzen 5 5600X; ASUS ROG Strix X570-F, Corsair Vengeance 64 GB (2x 32GB) 3600MHz; Seagate FireCuda 510 500GB M.2-2280 (OS); Samsung 860 EVO 2TB M.2-2280 (DCS); MSI GeForce RTX 3090 SUPRIM X 24GB OC GPU. TM Warthog Hotas; T.Flight Pedals; DelanClip/Trackhat.
Bossco82 Posted June 20, 2021 Posted June 20, 2021 I doubt it, I just hope CCL grease the doors on Monday morning. Good company, I used them before.
98abaile Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Just checked them out. They can't be that good of a company if they're charging the same as the scalpers.
Mogster Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 I don’t think we’ll ever see GPU prices returning to previous levels. Being able to buy a an RTX 3080 for <£650 GBP seems like fantasy now. My fear is that Nvidia/AMD are aware that people will pay these prices now so the next gen cards will have higher RRP, much higher.

I would estimate the average PC player is not willing to pay that high prices in future. I guess this was the reason why the RTX 3080 originally came with a much lower price compared to the RTX 2080. The 2080 was around 1400 EUR which was by far too high at that times. Even today I would never pay anything above 800 EUR for e. g. a 3080, even though I have that money and love DCS. In my opinion it were the miners which bought the epensive GPUs as it was still lucrative for them. The majority of gamers will not pay that much in long term imho. I heard a lot of voices in the internet that the gamers will convert to PS5 etc. if the prices will stay like they are. For the PC gaming industry this would be the death in long term. OK, also there Nvidia and AMD supply with components, so mybe they don´t mind. But I believe the story is more complicated. My conclusion: The prices will drop in long term, maybe not 100% back to normal, but only slightly above. 2 AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus, 64GB Crucial Ballistix DDR4-3600 CL16, Asus TUF Gaming RTX 4080 OC, Windows 11 64bit Home Premium, TrackIR 5 with TrackClip: Pro!, Virpil MongoosT-50CM3 Base + TM Warthog Stick + 7cm extension + WINWING Orion 2 with F-15EX grips, Cougar MFDs with 8" displays, Saitek Rudder Pedals, Samsung Odyssey G9 49" 5120x1440 @120 Hz

Actually, I just got a call today from one of my nephews asking if he could upgrade his GPU etc... Guess what I told him. Stick to your GPU and if it all goes south, get a new console. This situation ruins a lot, the damage just doesn't show up yet but it will, I am pretty sure there will be a measurable shift towards consoles, away from PC if the prices dont come down for everyday people with normal budgets and family responsibility. I just cant pay 3k€ and tell my kids its gonna be Noodles and Ketchup for the next 12 weeks. Mogster Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 I can pay the inflated prices but won’t on principal, although I have been wavering… Mainly as I don’t see this situation being resolved this year. I just don’t see how this situation really hurts the GPU manufacturers enough to resolve it. They are selling all the GPUs they can manufacture. There’s a ready pool of grifter’s now who’ll go to some effort to buy stock as soon as it becomes available. Only massive overstock will saturate the market. That isn’t going to happen as medium term the market will stabilize, why would the manufacturers go to the expense of increasing capacity when medium term it won’t be required. Anyway, my 1080 is still OK…
Leg2ion Posted July 3, 2021 Author Posted July 3, 2021 Apologies to all who appear offended - purely put a shout out for those who were interested. Started putting together a new PC after a few years out of the PC home build scene, unaware of the GPU issue, so was stuck needing one. On 6/28/2021 at 9:28 PM, 98abaile said: Just checked them out. Quite possibly one of the better companies I have ordered from, and if prepared to pick and choose can get some really good deals on other PC components. Look at alternative sellers - prices are up...! Personally, I'll would rather wait for the next generation of GPU, CPUs and AMD socket, my GTX 1080Ti is excellent and unless there is at least a 50% improvment in performances I don't see any real reason to upgrade, unless premium vanishes and prices go down by 25%.
