We have been noticing this effect on multiplayer. Comes and goes. But when it happens it crashes not only the server, but your computer also. I surely hope the Dev's can isolate the cause and remedy it with 1.1.

Here are some more pics of the same effect

I hope we could kill this bug. Our testers didn’t have more collision with it.

People used to post about the "big fire" bug all the time over at UBI forums. I've personally seen it twice during 1.02 multiplayer followed by increasing performance degradation and eventually followed by an application crash. I believe I was running a Radeon 9800XT with Catalyst 4.5 at the time. Haven't seen it with the NVidia 6800GT yet

Thanks for replying this qrdl, This confirmes that the bug itself is not hardware related, happens on nvidia and ati video cards. This bug followed trough from 1.0 to its present state.

Its a fustrating bug, when you fly a couple of hours, hunting down enemy birds. Gattering points, then this thing happens. It crashes my system. Im forced to hard reset if im not quick enough. I hate doing hard reset. Might cause lost clusters, might damage my hard disk. Seems happenning when server has been running for a long time, but then again seems sporatic.

But Im addicted to lockon so I loaded it back up, hehe 8)

Im woundering Chizh, did you ever found the source of this issue?

I wouldn't call it a "fire bug" rather something more general. On my system and mostly on some servers after flying a while there is a noticable loss of textures. Eg textures start flashing, disappearing or just get replaced with other weird textures. It's as if it runs out of texture memory. My system 5900xt (128meg), 1gig of system ram, 2gig swap file, athlon 2000xp (xpsp2), it does not happen initially in the game, only after some flying (usually 1 mig29 round trip  )

Unfortunetly.. First time I saw this bug was more than year ago on R9700. Now I`ve got Nvidia card (as I wrote 68000U 256MB). My hardware configuration changed a lot during last year (mobo, mem, processor, sp1, sp2, system from scratch..) , but bug is still present in online playing :( imho it is not hardware&drivers related bug.

best wishes,

Wow coldcrew... looks like your jammer pod is overloading and broadcasting signals that are interfering with your visual cortex! I'd turn that thing off and have the engineers take a look less you give yourself un-repairable brain damage.

Coldcrew we have the same video card. I've seen this issue also. I've noticed it that it happen when in my display settings, In the Image Setting section was set to performance or high performance.

I reverted it back to Quality it has fixed it. I know there is no reason for this for happening since high performance settings runs great with other applications. But seems lockon does not like it. Also make sure you dont O/C your video card. Well not for playing lockon that is....

now this is interesting. It was already on Quality but I decided to take your advice and move it to high quality and for the first time ever I saw the huge fire bug online.
