I do not say all but there are at least one from an Italian plane from the Second World War the best known the most important the most produced and built the most used the FIAT-CR42.
At least to show that the Italians also participated in the battle of Britain, otherwise seeing only GERMANY and ENGLAND in the battle of Britain is something not unreal. and false.

Easy… we haven’t got have any RAF and Luftwaffe BOB types yet 🤣 , Italian planes are interesting though and I agree should be present in any BOB sim.

Eric Brown really liked the CR42 describing it as surprisingly fast and very aerobatic. There’s a complete BOB era example at Hendon and TFC are are reportedly restoring one. The CR42 is actually a very decent punt for a DCS module at some point.

Xilon, the planes we have are not from the Battle of Britain (which occurred in 1940). The planes we have are from Normandy/D-Day era approximately (1944ish). BoB planes would be Spitfire Mk Is and Hurricanes on the British side and the Bf-109E on the German side. What we have are Spitfire Mk IXs and Bf-109Ks (not to mention the late war P-51D and P-47D).

ED have pretty much said BOB aircraft are on the way.

We already have a later model Spit and 109 to use as a basis for earlier types, the Hurricane would be new, as would the CR42. Current DCS WW2 progress is glacial though… more 3rd party dev teams are needed.

Would also need Me110, He111, Ju87 and Do17

I must admit I’ve always been really keen in earlier versions of the Spit and 109.

A Spitfire 1a / 109E for BoB would be great at some point

A Spit Vb / 109F combo would also be good for cross Channel rhubarbs

I can see Spit, Hurri, Bf 109 E, CR42 as flyable. Ju87, He111, Bf 110, Br20 as minimal AI.

The existing AI Ju88 could be modified as an early version.

Our aircraft have little to no commonality with BoB era planes besides vague silhouette. Using the 109 as my primary example : different engine, different weapons in different locations, far heavier, different radios, completely different airframe and aerodynamics (the K is MUCH sleeker and more refined than the E), if it's an E-3 than it doesn't even have a prop governor. I don't know a *whole* lot about the differences between the Spitfires, but I'm sure it's more than superficial.

To be fair, ED going all 'Well, we are working on a Battle of Britain project' resulting in a Fiat G.50 would be quite on brand.

Something that has pretty much no context within DCS, is perfectly obscure in itself and played the important role of historical footnote in the BoB.

if it has no context as you say.....but they are always planes from the 2nd world war as the P51, the BF109 IL-6, the SPITFIRE etc.etc. are present in DCS. sincerely the CR-42 is the best BIPLANE in the whole world and for me an aircraft that has a world record and to keep an eye on..... as regards Italian aircraft of the Second World War I would give priority to the most built and the most produced....although personally I prefer the SERIE 5, Macchi 205 veltro, Fiat G.55 centauro, and Reggiane 2005 sagittario

There is no single "best" biplane as each aircraft excelled in specific contexts. When considering fighter biplanes, the Sopwith Camel and the Fokker D.VII are often mentioned as the best of their era. For training and aerobatics, the Boeing-Stearman Model 75 and the Pitts Special are unparalleled in their respective roles. The Fiat CR.42 Falco, on the other hand, is a remarkable example of an operational fighter biplane during World War II

.

Fiat CR.42 Falco

  • Period: World War II
  • Use: Fighter
  • Performance: One of the best operational biplanes during World War II, known for its maneuverability and sturdiness, but inevitably outclassed by more modern monoplane fighters.
