nscode Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 http://www.military.com/news/article/wing-cracks-ground-many-a10s.html 1 Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
qrazi Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Ai, not good... Guess this will mean further delay DCS: A10..... :) Honestly, it was to be expected at one point or another. Old aircraft, and they have their most active duties right now... MSI 870A-G54, AMD Phenom II X2 555 @Phenom II X4 B55 BE, 3.2 GHz quad-core, Asus EAH4870 DK/HTDI/512MD5, OCZ Gold Edition DDR3 1333MHz 4GB Kit Low-Voltage. Budget = Cheap = Good :D
jpm1 Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 good news for ED they are going to sell more simulators and for the pilots too which get themselves on holidays as a result .. . I wonder what's the level of similarity with the Concorde problem SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
RedTiger Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 You have to wonder about this, not just in terms of the USAF but for everyone. The steady stream of combat aircraft development and procurement slowed to a trickle after the Cold War ended. I think there's the risk that all the old aircraft will become unflyable and there won't be the budget or desire to replace them on a 1 for 1 basis. Maybe that won't be necessary.
Pilotasso Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Actualy the death spiral of prices and longer development period was more of a problem, than the budget cuts. You can see it while either Europea cannards struggled with budgets and time schedules, the F-22 and F-35 with much bigger budgets also suffered long development periods. Next Gen will be unmanned, I beleive this Gen will last along even past that time as these last manned fighters will be mainatained in order to keep a human behind the trigger. A scramjet or pulse detonation fighter capable of suborbital flight and equiped with lighdar and having a human pilot in it would be so expensive (partialy due to the long development programs wich already started) that only a hanfull nations could buy it and in very limited numbers. The war would be over pretty quick :D Combat aircraft will be a trait of underveloped nations will eventualy disapear by the end of this century, my 2 cents :D .
jpm1 Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 the hog's a thick-skinned animal i'm sure he'll get over soon , meanwhile http://rapidshare.com/files/157270101/A10_PSA.rar SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Deadman Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 Actually This action impacts approximately 130 A-10 aircraft with thin-skin wings installed during original manufacture and is being taken to ensure the continued operational safety of the aircraft. http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123118250 http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123118495 http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123118882 And A new A-10 Warthog news Blog is up http://warthognews.blogspot.com/ https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
Vekkinho Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 Impressive: D-M averages 60 to 70 training flights per day on the A-10 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
