Hi Badger, really enjoying the campaign so far! In Mission 09, how do I get the Jsows locked on the target? Because I can't see anything with the TGP from angels 35.

Hi

You will be able to see the targets from 35K but not a long way out.  What distance are you expecting to see them. You can lock on to the area by setting way point up as target. TGP will then lock to that point. Initially you will not see anything as you may be too far away, that does not mean you are not locked on to the right position and if you start moving it around you will be lost. So leave it there. As you approach the target it is as if a curtain is being lifted on the display and you will see the ground. Make sure your zoomed in. Once visible you can play around with  IR to get the best  image.

Hope this helps.

Finished this a couple of days ago: really good work!

I like its "Raven One-like" style, with less "big boom & bang!" action and a more techincal skill & plane handling knowledge required from the pilot to complete each mission.

I found that this is really fun and useful since it forces the player to study from the manual and inprove himself as a pilot.

Technically speaking, an huge leap forward respect to Serpent's Head 1&2, especially for real actors voiceovers (BTW: trim a little bit the volume of conversations on the carrier bridge since it is not easy to listen them with all that noise around ).

Nice job @Badger633, eager to play your next work (if any in development).

Hi

Thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed the Campaign.

Still thinking what to do next.

In the meantime you could always try the version of the campaign with increased difficulty. Free with the main campaign.

Enjoying the campaign so far but I haven't been able to get AAR to work as I would expect it to from past experience.  Just as I'm getting close to the basket I get a radio call "breakaway beakaway", and the basket won't hook up to the probe.  This happens every single time.  Is this a bug with the current beta version of DCS, the campaign, or am I doing something wrong?  I've been out of the F/A-18 for a while, but I didn't have issues with AAR in the past.

Hi

The 'breakaway' call is within DCS not the mission. It seems a common message especially with the F18 even if you are approaching normally. I get it a lot. May be a bug, not sure. Just ignore it and carry on as normal and you should be able to connect. If you are sure you are approaching correctly and the basket is refusing to connect that is not normal. Can you let me know which mission it is. Better still send me a track. I can then check it this end.

Hi Badger, thanks for the reply.  This has happened in missions 1, 4, and 5 so far.  I just played mission 5, making multiple attempts at connecting to the basket, and saved the track.  Here's the file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LWtx6TOBnUHc3WE0oeamyxPzY5OGj72E/view?usp=sharing

Thanks, will check it out. Just to check, you are refuelling on the starboard side only?

Yeah, all of my attempts in all three missions were on the starboard side.

HI, my mistake, I was thinking when you refuel with your wingman. When you refuel and its only you it is the port side.  Its only  recently in  DCS the refueler drops  both baskets.  Before if there was just you it would not drop the basket until you had called pre-contact and was in the correct position and then it would only drop one basket.(The Port one)

I have had a quick look at your track. You seem to be having a problem getting a connection. It could be that you are using the starboard basket. As I said until recently in DCS the refueler did not drop any baskets until you called pre-contact and it would be the port one only  so maybe it was expecting that. However this wouldn't explain why you had a problem with mission one though, where you have a wingman and you have to use the starboard basket.

I will have to fly mission 1 tomorrow and test out for myself and let you know how I get on. I am confused however as I know people have recently flown these missions ok

By the way I missed it, but you did call pre-contact didn't you ?

UPDATE: Just flew mission one . That is the wingman will go to the port side and you have to go starboard, as the brief. Connected no problem first time, so cannot repeat this end. As DCS now seems to drop both baskets even before you call pre-contact are you making that call before connection?

Thanks for taking the time to look into this.  Yes I was calling pre-contact, and receiving the "cleared contact" radio call before attempting to connect.  I think I will have to give this a try outside of the campaign and make sure it's not a more general issue I'm having.

Okay I just tried the F/A-18C Aerial Refueling mission and had no problem there, hooked up to the probe on the first try.  That was with the 5-3B tanker however, so the parameters are not the same as the campaign which uses the KC-130 if I'm not mistaken.

Hi

Just as a double check flew the second mission you mentioned with refuel, mission 4. This using the port side. (As I have said use Port side when on your own and starboard when with a wing man). Again, as mission 1, no problems connected first time. So can not repeat your issue this end.

The ability to refuel is a DCS simulation matter and is not controlled in the campaign script. If you keep getting the problem log it on the main forum.

Unfortunately cannot recreate it this end and nobody else has raised it. So there no corrections to be made to the campaign script.

Sorry cannot help further.

Okay, thanks.  Will try using the port side next time I try AAR alone.

I just played mission 8 and encountered an issue that is different from the one discussed on page 1.  The island that 410 lands on had active SA-6s that shot him repeatedly as he was approaching (but he was invincible).  Because of this I wasn't able to get close to the island, and failed the mission from not observing 410.  Shame cause the mission was a lot of fun up until that point.  Here's the track file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1edLbyG-NCUw_rorseEJvZlEKlXEyABJc/view?usp=sharing

Looked at the track. Unfortunately large tracks are not very accurate at the moment in DCS. It started to go adrift after your first approach to the gun target on the  island.

Yes 410 is immortal, has to be, to limit outcomes in the mission. This common in campaign missions with a wingman. However he should not be landing on the island with a SA6, he is not scripted to do this. He should be heading back to the mainland. I will check it out this end. The only reason I could think the AI may have done this is if he ran short of fuel. Were you a long time taking out the bogies ?

I will fly it and check it out.

IIRC I had about 3000 or maybe 2800lb of fuel left after we finished up the enemy aircraft.

Hi

Just flew mission 8. Everything went as planned and 410 headed to main land all as scripted. Also refuelled ok starboard side. So cannot repeat your issue this end. Also I have had no others reporting this issue.

So confused as to what has happened your end.
