reported Selecting GACQ/Gun and then selecting a different Weapon will often stuck the radar into 5B/20d

Reproduce

 

1) Select GACQ

2) Select AIM-9/AIM-120/AIM-7

 

Note RDR ATTK, often stuck in 5B, 20d (about 50% of the time)

 

Can be fixed by cycling weapons, however this messes up your flow, and can easily be life or death in combat.

I did five tries and noticed, that RDR ATTK was set to 5B and 20° most of the time after switching from GACQ to AIM-9, AIM-120 or AIM-7. But this settings weren't stuck - I was able to change the values by clicking the related PB.

Don't know, if the setting 5B & 20° is correct behaviour after leaving GACQ.

As far as I've been informed by a real F18 pilot, this is not accurate.

It's been a long standing issue. It can happen when you use the undesignate pinky while in GACQ. Switching between other modes after exit of GACQ will solve the issue too.

When I test I am not seeing it get stuck, I have asked the team to take a look also and clarify the behaviour.

WACQ will return to GACQ if lock is lost and then remain in 20dgs by 5B scan when entering a missile mode.

 

Steps to reproduce:

 

1: Lock a target up in WACQ

2: Loose the lock

3: Search pattern is now 20dgs by 5B even though it still says WACQ

4: Change weapon mode to Sparrow or whatever.

5: Radar will be 20dgs azimuth and 5B scan

ACM WACQ will be overridden by the missile mode saved setting when changing missile mode.

 

Steps to reproduce:

 

1: Select Sparrow

2: Castle forward and then left to enter WACQ

3: Change weapon mode to sidewinder

4: Sidewinder default even though ACM is still boxed and WACQ is still displayed

5: Change back to Sparrow and now the radar has a 140dgs azimuth scan with auto lock

Changing weapons while in VACQ swappes the axis of the radar search pattern.

 

Steps to reproduce.

 

1: select any msl mode

2: castle forward and then back to enter VACQ.

3: change to another msl mode and the search pattern will now have 140 dgs vertical scan in for instance MRM or AMRAAM mode and 4 or 2 bar horisontal scan.

Nothing constructive here but... Didn't they fix it few builds ago?  Sometimes it looks like they plug the updates into old builds

Back then you had to press and release TDC in empty airspace and the change weapon mode to get out of it. Now you just change weapon mode to get back to normal. You are not stuck anymore. Better but not fixed.

I have merge the reports here as I believe they are all related. 

 

Either lost lock, weapon change, or changing to a different acquisition mode can leave the scan stuck. 

It does not always reproduce for me , but I am seeing it in the tracks and will report to the team.
