upyr1 Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 There is an awesome community mod, but if we get one from eagle then it needs to be a 1980s refit in dcs core. 1 1

Callsign112 Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 Well actually the WWII side of the navy is most in need, so why not a WWII version?

Although it is odd how often this subject gets brought up.... I'm not opposed to having them all, its just that WWII is really lacking in terms of navy. But following on @upyr1, if they did an IOWA class, then you would think having both would not be a major issue. I know there are some really good mods out there, and it is not that I do not appreciate all the hard work the community has put in, its just that I don't like running mods. I run the stable version with no mods. I find that it gives me the best performance/experience. I am not a tech wizard, and hate troubleshooting problems every time a patch comes down the line. What I would really like to see is ED welcome some of the indie Devs work into the DCS fold. They could ensure that everything gets reviewed with a fine-tooth comb and that anything accepted meets with ED's high standard. But this would help give recognition to the indie Dev's, speed development of the DCS World platform, and would also cater to ED's entire customer base as it would include people like me that prefers to run official content only.

I expect that will be in the world war II asset pack. Though I would like the Iowas in all their forms with enough cruisers and destroyers to assemble 50 years worth of battle groups 2

I think you can thank Ryan Szymanski and the battleship New Jersey museum's youtube channel. I know watching it I think "we need battleships" All the Iowas would amount to a total of 13 ships. The 4 in their World War II form, the 4 in the Korean form (same as world war II except for a helicopter pad on the stern, the NJ in the Vietnam era- we should have the pools the pools will be awesome), and of course the 1980s refit. I'd love to see some battleships for both the axis and allies. 56 minutes ago, Callsign112 said: I know there are some really good mods out there, and it is not that I do not appreciate all the hard work the community has put in, its just that I don't like running mods. I would love to see some of the community's AI assets get added to DCS core but sadly in PM exchanges Hawkeye doesn't have the interest, even though it would be awesome if he and the admiral changed their minds. 2 hours ago, Callsign112 said: Well actually the WWII side of the navy is most in need, so why not a WWII version? Anything before 199 something is lacking. So as I said earlier how about 50 years with of Iowas and their escorts.

This right here. If it had REAL 16" guns with associated performance, AND tomahawk/TLAMs it would get a lot of use. The mod one is indeed visually fantastic but is missing those two things. Have fun. Callsign112 Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 199... is the BC or AD? But yeah I hear you, its just that we have a lot more missile cruisers/Destroyers with almost nothing to do WWII naval battles.

They have added both with the latest update. Right now since Mario is working on the 1980s model they have the CWIS and missiles firing from 5 inch guns. Edited September 6, 2021 by upyr1

Here is a list of the ships used in overlord https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Allied_warships_in_the_Normandy_landings

upyr1 Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 Just some thoughts. Somethings I want to see Eagle add to DCS to make the Iowas work. First would be a ship payload editor I'm not sure if they had a standard load out, but it would be good to alter it. Next for all artillery is the option to select shell type. In the case of a battleship I'd want to select the battery being used.
