Can't get Mossies to formation bomb

I've made 4 formations of 12 Mossies, that are supposed to bomb an airfield. 

But when they get to the carpetbomb part, only the 3 "leaders" of each of the 4 formations of 12 actually attack, the rest just fly off to the side.

The FB.VI is, what in modern parlance would be described as an attack aircraft, not a formation level bomber.

True, but this doesn't justify why the AI should be incapable of bombing in formation.

The same reason you don’t give an S-3 Viking a SEAD mission set or Combat Air Patrol to a Tu-95. Saves redundant developer hours. 
 

Want to carpet bomb an airfield with an Allied light bomber? Use the A-20.

Well, with the former there's nothing stopping me at all from using ground attack task to accomplish the exact same thing. Funnily enough, the S-3's primary mission (ASW) is just about the only mission it can't do, being totally absent in DCS.

 

And the latter being utterly orthogonal to the role might have something to with it...
