HvanE Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 The F-5E Tiger II M-39 20mm guns have no effect when dogfighting a F-18. I can be right up it’s behind and pepper it till the cows come home, all to no avail. It just keeps flying with no hits scored…. This strange behavior only affects the F-18. All other aircraft drop like flies under similar circumstances. Any thought?

HvanE Posted October 10, 2021 Author Posted October 10, 2021 The track file attached is purely to demonstrate the perceived "invulnerability" of the F-18 during a CAP mission, and set up that way to keep the file as small as possible. Of interest is the fact that this "invulnerability" of the F-18 only occurs when I am flying against more then ONE aircraft. Single F-18's go down as expected when fired upon. Appreciate your thoughts. F-18.trk
Flappie Posted October 10, 2021 Posted October 10, 2021 Your track contains a mod, I canot read it. On holiday
HvanE Posted October 11, 2021 Author Posted October 11, 2021 Apologies. A sanitized version this time... F-18.trk
Flappie Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 (edited) Many thanks. I'm able to reproduce this issue. It seems the F/A-18A unit is not made of matter anymore: it's both invincible and soft as jelly. I was able to go through it without damaging our respective aircraft. Then I exchanged the AI Hornet A for a Hornet C, and this time I was able to shoot it for good. This is not an F-5 bug, by the way. The result was the same aboard a MiG-29. Bug reported.
