159th_Viper Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Forgive the ignorance, but how does one go about setting a higher value than 6xAA in ATI Tray Tools for the 4870x2? Upon opening ATI Tray Tools, the highest value selectable is 6x as mentioned.......anything higher? Assistance appreciated. Ta :) 1 Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Ta :) Try turning on "Edge Detect", this will give you effective 24x AA when 8xAA is enabled at the same time ;) For a brief description, check here under CFAA – Edge Detect http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTUzMiwxLCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA edit: are you sure you cannot goto 8xAA with your 4870x2? Mustang Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Aye - Only options I have with ATI Tray Tools installed is 2x, 4x and 6x......... That is strange......ok, what ATT version are you currently using? Maybe you're using a version that doesn't correctly support the 4870x2's features? Try this http://cid-a50350ea7a969f0c.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Public/attsetup.exe this is a link to Ray Adams constantly updated beta version of ATT that fully supports all latest 4xxx cards ( link obtained from this thread http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=270486 )

Mustang Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Hey Viper, so have you managed to get that 8xAA with Edge Detect running? How about some screenshots? :D
159th_Viper Posted November 25, 2008 Author Posted November 25, 2008 (edited) Hey Viper, so have you managed to get that 8xAA with Edge Detect running? How about some screenshots? :D Oh Hell Yeah :D These captured quickly with the Instant action mission.......at 4xAA with Edge-Detect. Screenshots at native resolution with no edits, except Border - so resized will look even better - Good illustration of the effectiveness of Edge-Detect, and screens captured at Gameplay settings. Following Pic slightly resized down to 1680x1050 due to photobucket limitations........ Edited November 25, 2008 by 159th_Viper Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? DTWD Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Oooh that looks nice...what kind of settings can you run BS on? Evertime I read something new about graphics cards I keep getting tempted by the 4870x2... Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
159th_Viper Posted November 25, 2008 Author Posted November 25, 2008 (edited) Oooh that looks nice...what kind of settings can you run BS on? By some 'strange' quirk, after a BS reinstall my system runs BS capped at a rock-steady 30FPS/60FPS dependant on where I am looking at/externals.......Anybody got any idea why? In any event - settings with AAX4 Edge enabled/AFX16 and BS settings as follows: Cannot really complain :D Edited November 25, 2008 by 159th_Viper Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Mustang Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I have three possible settings: 1 - Always Off 2 - Application Preference 3 - Always On Atm set to 'Always Off'. I always have it set to Application Preference, i guess though alot depends on what kind of screen you own (tearing and the like) try that and see..... Also, check the graphics.cfg for a //MaxFPS = 60; setting, when i was a beta tester for ED and was working on DCS i always erased that command from the cfg for better FPS :)

And the Config file of mine read MaxFPS = 0.........Deleted the line anyway - no difference.......wish I knew what is is :) Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career?
