Is the latest and most up-to-date version of the manual the one that is downloaded with the module, or is a better version availab.e somewhere else?

AFAIK the WIP RC6 (release candidate 6) manual is the most up to date version.

and is found in the 1st post of the update thread.

Although you'll still find some good info in Chuck's Guide (June 2021) if new to the Mirage

Edit (disregard, my mistake)

Wish the official forums could be used as intended. Multiple sources for this kind of thing is pointless, and slightly frustrating.

My mistake, because of the post above mine I was under the impression that latest manual was on discord, but not here. (There has been a precedent of information being posted to discord, but not here in the past).

After double checking, I see that this is not the case. Sorry for the mistake on my part.

To be fair, without reading the forums a new user wouldn't even know there was a manual at all (I didn't).  This is a DCS problem.

When you install a module the game does not invite you to read a manual.  The manual is not shown in the encyclopedia or the module manager.  You have to assume there is a manual somewhere and look through the file tree.

You can search for the word "manual", if you know that the string is in the filename.  If you somehow know to search for "M-2000" you find 13 folders, and only one of those contains another folder that contains the manual, but the folder is called "doc".

Then the manual is only the one that downloaded with the module, and not the current one.

And some modules only have a sparse WIP manual, and the player must rely on 3rd party guides.

DCS has made strides for usability but this is an improvement area.
