G2 compatibility?

Im leary about preordering pointctrl because of the G2s need for bright light for tracking(and obvious issues with tracking with pointctrl) ,I would really like to hear what G2 owners experiences with pointctrl have been Good or bad,Any and all answers are appreciated.

No experience with pointctrl but the G2 doesn't need bright light to track, I use a red led strip when I'm using VR (my rig is in a walk in cupboard in the bedroom with a blackout curtain across the doorway so light bleed is an issue) as it's easier on the eye and tracks very well.  As long as there are enough defining features of the room it will track without issue; infact because the WMR controllers use visible light, a very bright light source can prevent them tracking cleanly.  I think as long as you can see then the headset will track

I dont use contollers ever and the setup your using isnt going to happen in my case, but thanks for your response.

I use both. In my case, there is no lighting issues.  However, I do turn on the ceiling fan light.

I think you missed my point in that the G2 doesn't need bright light to track thusly you can reduce the lighting if it will make the pointctrl work better

I've found the G2 dislikes bright lights next to it. Never tried in total darkness but I have noticed that having my second monitor on or the lamp behind it can confuse the head tracking when seated at the desk.  Overall tracking is generally fine, if keeping that bright close light limitation in mind. When using the hand controllers in either a brightly or dimly lit room, they track just fine. I can't comment on the device you're asking about specifically as I'd never heard of it before opening this thread.

I use pointctrl with the G2.

I have no problems as long as there is no light in front of the pointctrl sensor. I got the ceiling light on during dark days / night, during bright days I have a window in my back.

Don’t have my PointCrl yet but I am in a walk-in closet with a high window in front of my setup and a fluorescent ceiling light behind me. Noticed that with light off when the outside light changed and/or clouds moved in my G2 would get a bit unstable. Curtain was drawn so whatever light that was getting in was muted. So when I turned overhead light on, problem solved. I now run with light on all the time and all works great. Since it’s florescent should be no problem for PointCtrl. If upper window IR light is an issue, I’ll just block it. Hope this helps!

I just got PointCTRL and played around with it for a couple of hours. It worked out of the box, but the process of calibration helped accuracy, so I recommend anybody to go through it. When there's no offset between where you're pointing and the pointer, it feels very natural.

I don't have any direct lights in front of me, just one lamp on the ceiling and the monitor on my front left. Tracking on both G2 and PointCTRL works just fine.
