LastRifleRound Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 Does the real gunsight stutter this much? It's extremely choppy. AA gunnery in the Mirage is next to impossible for me using the gunsight. I Kentucky windage it using the gun cross and tracers just like before the past two updates. Anyone having better luck with this? I'm: 1. Making sure I'm nose to tail 2. Making sure I fire slightly before the reticle crosses the target 3. Of course, I have radar lock Supposedly you're supposed to get a double box showing it's ok to shoot, but it never appears for me

Sérvalpilot Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 The air-to-air gun mode isn't very good to be honest, but there is a way to make it somewhat useful. Just above the HUD (VTH) power switch, there's a switch that adjusts the gunsight prediction mode. Set it to "PRED" (predictive). Also, whenever you see a double triangle, that means your shots will land on your target. 3
irisono Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Without this VTH function, cannon hits in air-to-air combat are erratic and very inaccurate. The gunsight of the M2000 is really poorly modeled compared to other DCS modules (F-16C, F/A-18, F-14 etc.). I can't imagine that the gunsight worked so unpredictably IRL. On the other hand, the air-to-ground gunsight function is excellently simulated.
Galinette Posted February 17 Posted February 17 The model is very accurate in modelling its IRL inaccuracies. No kidding, and IRL pilots pester about it. 2

I would have no issue giving it better aiming, and adding target prediction, and I actually did it during the development process... But it was not faithful to the real thing. Now I can't send you any manual page or video that is not already public, and public info is scarce. You will need to live with it. Though, despite being far behind predictive gunsight like you can find on US jets for instance, it is absolutely useable. But it requires some training and understanding how it works. It's not a predictive gunsight and only shows the past virtual tracers. So if you are not on a stable turn it can't give you much help. Basically, it computes 8 virtual tracers launched at regular interval and display them in a 8 segmented line (nicknamed the "snake" or "spaghetti"). If you have a radar lock, it also displays a reticle on the snake point which is at same distance than target. It is not a predictive sight and must be used a specific way. I'm sure there are plenty of videos about the gunsight, watch them and train. Razbam's discord is also a good resource for getting hints on how to use it. Edited February 18 by Galinette 5 1
myHelljumper Posted February 24 Posted February 24 (edited) The way to use this sight is explained in the manual. Give it a read (page 549) and then try using it as is should be.
