DCS doesn't like it when other programs run (or do something) during startup. Not going into fullscreen is the exact symptom.

Just make sure, all other programs are fully loaded and in idle whilst starting DCS (e.g. TrackIR, Discord, Afterburner and so on). So in other words - no multitasking. Same while running DCS and alt-tabbing out. Chances are, you are not in fullscreen on return. If you can, use the g-sync indicator to help identify true fullscreen.

problem is i'm a notorious alt-tabber. i have chuck's guide i'm following along with plus youtube tutorials and research documents. i get real into it. but i never had the sim behave this way on me until recently, sort of the opposite of bell_rj. so strange

i see a mixed bag too. i have a second monitor in portrait though, so guides are on it. i play SP and i pause the game before clicking outside.

When you don’t have a visual clue for determining if you are in fullscreen, you can just alt+enter and observe the fps-counter. If there is an issue, you should see the little jump in fps immediately. While it is annoying, the problem can be solved on the fly with alt+enter luckily.

i am going to test on my end too. i believe this fix has been around for ages. it would be nice to add it to the FAQ in the ED troubleshooting section.

lol well, yes, i know this now. that's what this whole thread was about discovering. it took me weeks of research and asking questions and deep diving and no one coming up with a solution until I finally figured it out by finding a 3 year old thread on it.

this should really be highlighted and sticked wherever and whenever people are running into sudden fps problems.
