Hi there Friends !

Iv got the DCS BS from my father who bought it in Moscow last week.

The simulator is fantastic but today when i started to make a Server for online gaming i failed with it.:cry:

Im using a router. The router IP numbers start with 192......

(yes, iv read the BS GUI Manual p.149-p.161)

Network Speed ADLS 256/128

Port 10308

Interface - Ivgot 3 rows:

- 192.....Router IP (fix)

- ACTUAL IP (not fix)

- All Interfaces

What should i choose for the Interface settings ? (iv tried all the 3 options above)

What should i choose for the Server Type settings ? LAN or Interenet ?

or maybe i have wrong windowsXP/router setting for BS ?

Firewall is turned off when i trying to start Server and i can join as client without any problems.

Thank you for your helps :helpsmilie:

-> 192.XXX (router IP)

-> INTERNET

for setting up a server, you need to forward the used port! standard port = 10308.

check www.portforward.com for the details how to do this. if you have more than 1 computer (read: device with internal IP, like network printer, NAT storage etc), you better set fix IP's, so you can deactivate the DHCP on the router...

when done, you should be able to set up a server.

either your server will show up on the serverlist (so the ppl can click and connect), or not - then the clients need to connect to your external IP directly. check your external IP and hand it out to the clients, but they need to add the port after the IP or it will most likely not wort (ie: 85.132.4.23:10308)

The reason you can connect is because it appears you are only connecting on the local network. Additional steps need to be done for others to be able to see it and connect to it via the internet.

Anything that starts with a 192.168.xxx.xxx is a local only address you need to find the address that your modem is acutally using. Just to clarify...your router will have 2 IP addresses, 1 being the IP it uses being a DNS server on the local network and 1 it uses (through the modem) to communicate with the internet.Then do what the previous poster said.

Another option to look into:

My router has an option called "DMZ" - De Militrized Zone what that does its lets you pick 1 IP on the local network that will be exposed competly to the internet with no filtering at all.

I use this so I can host games on my PC and run Teamspeak server etc without having to do anything else like port forwarding. When setting up with this you just set the IP of your Router as the IP for your server, all incoming connections for games etc then get routed to your server PC.Your routers setup webpage should have it's IP info somewhere.

just 2 more infos:

- inside blackshark, you see the internal IP of your PC when you're behind a router. so it's ok to choose an internal IP as interface in the server settings. but, the port has to be forwardet to that IP.

- DMZ is a workaround for not forwarding ports. basically, you allow ALL traffic on ALL ports for a specific IP. in that way, you bypass the routers firewall. it's ok to do it here and there, but really not recommended to have it like this for long time... exept, you like to install windows and fight some trojans :)
