RWC Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Hi friends, i do not know if anyone else has this issue with the Syria map. Unless one has a superhigh-end PC , the Syria map is for me almost not possible to use or design in in the mission editor, unless i run all settings in a low state. Unlike the other maps , this map requires a lot of memory and CPU and i almost regret buying it. The loading time is crazy long , let alone trying to populate the map in the editor ! Also noticing that there are not a lot of missions or campaigns created with this map, even though it is such a stunning map to use. All my other maps run great in medium to high settings and as a user i don't want to go lower then that of course. I wonder if anyone else have these issues too and/or have a solution. * PC: Intel genuine i7 , 16 GB DDR5, GeForce RTX 3060 12GB DDR6 Any suggestions welcome friends, Thanks in advance. RWC
Boosterdog Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 (edited) Without switching all your setting to lower ones there isnt a decent solution other than more RAM. Syria eats RAM and is not optimized (not that optimization is a virtue of DCS) in the same manner most of the other maps are. 32GB is the accepted floor for this map. Its a pretty heavy map graphically too but my old 1080 could run lighter missions on it with medium setings pretty well. Its system requiments should reflect this and kinda do in that for heavy missions it recommends 32GB RAM. The trouble is EVERY mission in Syria is a heavy one! Depending on what you are doing, lowering your preload may help a little but i think it would be marginal. Sorry I cant help you further. Hopefully someone else can. This is only for non VR, cause this would be a different beast. There are literally years full of posts, here, reddit and other forums that say RAM RAM RAM and SSD. And then coming in here and showing 16GB of RAM and asking why something in DCS does not run appropriate is kinda weird. I mean really, just a tiny tiny research would give you tons of recommendations that 32 GB RAM (or even more but 32 is fine) and running DCS on a SSD is the gold standard for DCS. Especially for MP, especially for Syria or Marianas. Even in SP you would notice it is worlds apart from 16 GB or even lower. DCS in its current state demands RAM more than everything else. I run a very low end machine. Heck I just have an i5 with 2.80GHz and a EVGA GTX 970. Everything runs greatly smooth for me (as said, pancake with trackIR). Even big MP sessions with lots of units and and high traffic. Guess what? 32GB (3200 MHz) and a dedicated SSD for DCS. This "I have a fat CPU and GPU, so things should be fine" thinking is absolutely misleading when it comes to DCS. Again really really no offense, but to me it's sometimes crazy how people missed that info. 1 1

RWC Posted January 2, 2022 Author Posted January 2, 2022 Thanks a lot friends (Y) no offence taken at all , as i posted earlier to find the solution to fix this issue. But i really appreciate your time for this info and will upgrade to 32GB. Even though the RAM that i use , Kingston FURY Beast 16GB 4800MHz, should be able to handle it all explained by the reseller. Well , back to the drawing board i guess. Many thanks friends !!

Well , back to the drawing board i guess. Many thanks friends !! The problem is your ferrari still has only 2 seats. Syria is very much a Lambo Urus kinda map. Bear in mind that 32GB is Syria's floor. Itll eat everything you throw at it and still go to bed hungry. Many are running 64GB now (perhaps something the reseller who gave you the poor advice may be open to helping you with by way of making amends).
