dggoofy Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 Hi Reflected, I'm always fan of your campaigns (I've got all of them, but F-14, because I don't have the F-14 (yet)...). I cannot wait for the last mission to tell you how happy I am to fly this campaign. So immersive. Allways full of fun and surprise. It's just a pitty that the Marianas map performance is so poor. With my i9-9900 + Nvidia 2080 Super, I get a nice fps, but so much stutters and lags, above all at low altitude. Anyway, you can nothing against it. Maybe an advise ? Cheers Daniel
Reflected Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Hey Daniel, sorry I've just seen this. ED will surely optimize the map once they finish it. Until then there is no point. In the meantime you can lower your visiibility range, set terrain shadows to flat and lower maybe the terrain textures. Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
Jayhawk1971 Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Just bought the campaign a couple of hours ago. I have to agree about the FPS. I assume the smoke is the culprit. I tested free flight on the Marianas in the Huey, and while certainly not great, it was manageable. I tried mission 1, and got as far as Spoiler Firebase Berlin. The orange smoke caused stuttering that made it very hard to land, and I promptly got into a VRS and crashed. Aaand I'm not the world's greatest Huey pilot, either. I'll try again tomorrow, now that I am forewarned about the smoke. Guess I'll have to wait until ED optimizes the map, and/or I get a chance to upgrade my system. Maybe I can squeeze some more frames out of the settings. That being said, I loved the atmosphere and attention to detail very much during this first mission (and the intro)! And of course the movie references (Full Metal Jacket, and the intro is somewhat "Platoon-ish" ). Spoiler Is that Casmo as voice actor for "Mac"?
Reflected Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Yes, that's Casmo 1 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
wowbagger Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Hey Daniel, Are you running VR? If not ... I'm running a 2080 also and I get decent framerates everywhere except flying over Anderson (where it sometimes drops into the 30-40s), or flying right through a smoke column. Everywhere else my frames are pretty much 60-90 without any stutter - to which I am very sensitive. There should be something you can change in your options to make it smoother. no sig
DCoffey Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 I have an I-10700 and a RTX3060, I have everything on high plus 4x MSAA and 16x for the other setting, I only fly in VR and I rarely see a stutter, usually only when there is a lot of bomblets going off. I am getting a steady 25-35 FPS depending on the area which seems really smooth to me. I think I have my pixel density set at 1.2, when I go higher it will drop a frame or two per notch so I am happy at 1.2

But you're right : the worst place is over Anderson and at very low altitude, under 500 ft. Otherwise, it's pretty smooth. It doesn't affect the pleasure to play this campaign! So I big congratulation to Reflected for this campaign. So immersive. Missions run perfectly (except the 12, I had to play twice because it did not progress the first time. Second was great. I see the related post) Missions duration is perfect. You know what ? I'm happy. And I will restart another Reflected campaign : I got back to Yalu! Cheers Daniel
