MikeMic Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 OK, so new guy here but i've now attempted the Georgian Oil war, Day 1 no less than 12 times and been shot down every time by a SAM site. I've been approaching from the water where it looks like there is a SAM site near the coast. However, even with labels on i'm having an extremely hard time identifying them through the Shkval optics on the SU-25. Any tips on how to identify these and not get shot down would be helpful. I locked onto an SA-9 last time and blew it up with the 29L, but was locked shortly again and shot out of the sky by what I assume is another one.

Open the mission in Mission Editor. Check "Show Hidden". Remember the location of the threats. Real pilots would have these information. Order your wingman to engage air defense. If you're shot down, look at debriefing to see what shot you down. Download and install Tacview and analyze what went wrong. 1 Better Smoke - Better Trees Caucasus - Better Trees Syria - Better Trees Mariana - Clear Canopy Glass
draconus Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 (edited) Mike, assuming you're new pilot you should probably get a lot more experience before trying the campaign - it's certainly not a walk in a park and due to dynamic nature of DCS the missions may get harder or even impossible without frequent testing. Trying again and again the same may get you frustrated and lose fun in the end. If you still instist though... Try different approaches, like from a different direction, higher alt or extremely low pass. You can try to stay outside of the SAM NEZ while still keeping your weapon in range. You can also try and force to deplete SAM missiles as a last resort Edited January 26, 2022 by draconus Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
