You can map it to a switch that stays in place, or use your joystick software to program a button like that.

Nope but joystick Gremlin will allow you to set something like that.  button on/off: press -> set virtual joystick button on (map that one to DCS zoom function) press again -> set virtual button off.

Yep I mapped both VR zoom levels to a slider on my throttle.

I use the warthog throttle pinky switch for VR zoom, forward for the long range spyglass and backwards for the close in zoom.

@dburne have you got that mapped as a zoom axis in DCS or is it individual steps programmed externally to trigger the VR zoom/spyglass zoom?  I wanted to use the slider for vr zoom axis but I couldn't figure out how to get it to work.

I am using the slider on my Virpil CM3 throttle. I used the axis to button function in Virpil software to also assign buttons to that slider.

So I used the buttons to assign in DCS VR zoom.

Would have been nice to have some lesser zoom then what the 2 current options give us. Any way of tweaking how much zoom the lesser one gives?

Feel it gives me just a bit too much of what I need inside the cockpit.

Ah that figures, so different areas of the slider equate to different button inputs rather than a continuous proportional zoom axis.

As I don't bother using target or similar I'll stick to the pinky toggle switch and keep using the slider for wheelbrakes until I can make myself some new rudder pedals with toebrakes 😄

Same/similar solution here. I used the last  5% of the max-min range of the front slider to trigger a button press/hold. Works fine.

When those rudders with toebrakes get finished and the slider axis comes available, this is what you need:

KeyAxis(&Throttle, THR_FC, 0, AXMAP2(LIST(0,15,16,39,40,100), VR_Zoom_Magnifier, 0, VR_Zoom, 00));

Axis range 100 (full back) to 40 = normal zoom, 39 to 16 = VR_Zoom, 15 to 0 (full forward) = VR_Zoom_Magnifier
