Paradise lost campaign feedback. I am disappointed... (not what you think LOL)

Hi Reflected,

Don't get anxious! You're gonna love this "click bait" disappointment... LOL

Dude, I just finished the campaign and I loved every single bit of it. This is one of the most immersive campaign environments I ever saw on DCS. Just amazing.

I will not go through every single mission and I enjoyed them all. Loved the feature of "skip mission" and I used it once on mission 9, if I am not mistaken, the one we escort the convoy then land on Firebase Berlin. I landed there and nothing went on. That was the only single glitch I got from all 12+3 missions.

Btw, the spotify playlist you provided is just awesome and bring a notch up on the environment. I never ever fly listening to music, but this campaign was my first time doing so. The only mission I stopped the playlist was on the last combat mission and you know why. 😉

My company in Brazil has the last operational UH-1H Huey in the country and it was from Vietnan era (sn 70-15720). I even talked to our Huey pilot about some procedures and techniques. Pretty cool chat.

The click bait disappointment was because it was ONLY 12 missions. I wanted more, something like 50 or so! LOL

If you make a second TOD for him, I will buy it for sure. Well... I buy all your products anyway... LOL

You did an outstanding job on this campaign and I strongly recommend to anyone that like the Huey and Vietnan history to acquire and enjoy it.

Congratulations once again and all the best,

Sydy

Hey Sydy, thanks for the feedback and support, happy you had fun. In the escort mission, are you sure you landed at FSB Berlin, not another one? In all the playthrough videos it seems to be working fine. I can't imagine why nothing happens for you. Did you throttle down to rearm?

Hi Reflected,

I think so... Berlin is one on the top of the mountain with a couple of cows? I didn't throttle down... 😞

But no worries, I will refly the campaign for sure!

All the best,

Sydy

How was the performance? Marianas is pretty heavy for me in VR around Guam, but is decent on the other islands. The performance in that regard has been my only point of caution when considering this campaign.

Hi Nealius,

I had no problem whatsoever. The campaign is well balanced in terms of units. I consider it highly enjoyable.

My setup is not the highest end: 7700k, 2080, 64gig 3400mhz ram, ssd.

(edit): I don’t use vr…

all the best.

The campaign doesn't make it better or worse than the map itself ; if you can do a solo flight over Guam in good conditions you will be able to do enjoy the campaign from a performance standpoint. For me the buildings / cities are killing my fps in VR (down to only 30fps over the large city), but most of the action in the campaign is happening further south, near forested areas and villages, and I had no issues with FPS drops when it counted (needing to land in a hurry, providing close air support, etc.).

Same issue.

Developer set us up for disappointment by only including 12 missions.

From a moral perspective its very dirty.

Paradise Lost should be at least 100 missions, and include the spotify playlist music rights.

Of course, the campaign might cost $1,000, but after the first 12 I might consider it.

I just finished the campaign and absolutely loved it! Immersive, challenging but most of all fun! I'm wouldn't consider myself a very experienced Huey pilot (25hr after this campaign) but I'd been playing around in some of the medivac single player missions and had got proficient enough to hover and land a light bird - a bit of practise in a fully loaded Huey might have been a good idea though...😉

Difficulty level was set just right with the amount of enemy units and AAA.  The tick-tick-tick of getting hit really always had me on the edge of my seat.  The voice acting was excellent and the missions were varied and interesting. I'm glad there were only 12 missions as now I can stop itching to find time for the next one! 😆

I had no idea how to use the radio before I started the campaign, but it quickly made sense.

Only other tips I'd give are: (1) make sure you know how to align the radio compass to match the magnetic compass (2) know your short cut to auto-pilot level flight and (3) keep an eye on your EGC temp gauge - easy to burn out the engine if you're not careful.

Brilliant! 5/5

Spoiler

Played on: i5 11600K, GTX3070@2560x1440 (Track IR) DCS 2.8 open beta. Didn't have frame rate counter open but performance was always smooth (~60fps) with no slowdowns or hitches.
