I've lost the air defence templates, AAARGH!

Recommended Posts

As the title says, I've lost the air defecen templates ... and I don't even know how I've done it! 😩

But now, the question is: How can I re-create them ?

At the moment, in the "create group from template" windows, I've got nothing!

I've tried to search how to, but I'm afraid I'll have to import a lot of custom templates ... and I don't know where to start ... can someone help me ?🥺

You've probably clicked on that little button underneath the drop down arrow in the Country box. Apparently that deletes the group template , with zero prompt and zero indication on that screen that is what it does. I did much the same thing by accident myself.

I'm not sure if it's possible to get these from another player, they didn't reappear for me when I updated DCS so I'm guessing they're not part of the core files checked by the repair function. Perhaps the best way forward might be for you to create some groups yourself, and then save them as templates to replace the ones you've lost? A pain, but once you get into the swing not too difficult to do?

Don't know if that helps at all.

the Group Templates are stored on a "templates.lua" file, located on \Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\MissionEditor\data\scripts … rename the file to templates.bak and then run a repair (with dcs_updater repair), the updater should re-download the file anew.

Yes, on this spreadsheet I have noted the default unit templates and their countries.

DCS 2.7 default Unit Templates.xlsx

guess I'll have to find something here.

Or you could edit your own templates, in the end it’s more satisfying, and you can do it gradually as you build new missions
