Recluse Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 (edited) So every time I get into the cockpit, my View is messed up, e.g. too far down and to one side. This seems to be worst in the HORNET but it happens in other a/c as well (AV8B, A-4, less so in the A-10C) I adjust my view using the camera controls, RCTRL-RSHF-Numpad keys and then hit RALT-Numpad 0 to save it. But it DOESN'T SAVE. Something must be saved because I get he same crazy unacceptable view EVERY TIME. In 2D view, without VR, the default view looks OK. I also crank my seat position a bit, but I don't expect that to be saved. What am I missing???? Edited February 14, 2022 by Recluse
edmuss Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 (edited) Possibly try resetting you environment in steamvr/Oculus/wmr (whichever you use). My view always defaults to the same place and I adjust each time by leaning right back against the headrest and recentring the headset view before sitting normally again. This helps by bringing the front console towards me which allows leap motion to work better with my desk/stick/wheel/shifter setup; the lateral position is always centred though. I don't think the 2D cameras controls are the right tool, try searching the settings for vr headset reset and see if that helps. edit: have a look here, specifically Drac's reply: - Edited February 14, 2022 by edmuss Ryzen7 7800X3D / RTX3080ti / 64GB DDR5 4800 / Varjo Aero / Leap Motion / Kinect Headtracking TM 28" Warthog Deltasim Hotas / DIY Pendular Rudders / DIY Cyclic Maglock Trimmer / DIY Abris / TM TX 599 evo wheel / TM T3PA pro / DIY 7+1+Sequential Shifter / DIY Handbrake / Cobra Clubman Seat Shoehorned into a 43" x 43" cupboard.
Johnny Dioxin Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 (edited) I just did this yesterday (recentering in the way you have described) and then further refined it today while in VR in the A-10C, so it it's definitely working. One thing to make sure of is that you need to keep your head in the right position when you press the save key. That was quite awkward for me - but I realised I had to do it after my first save was skewed on pressing recentre - pretty much like you describe. edit: another thing I had to do yesterday was, after saving the adjusted view press Num5 which put my view in the standard centre position for 2D, then used my VR recentre key and this showed the saved position I wanted. Didn't have to do that after refining it today, though. I tried mapping the Recenter VR view, and it works if I am a little off in the Menus or Controls Screen, but once I get into the F/A-18, the view is down and to the right. Hitting RECENTER VR puts me back there every time, so it MUST have gotten saved that way somehow and I cannot figure out how to reset it. I did save the view with RALT-NUM0 when it was correct, and I COULD retrieve it with LWIN-NUM0 to recall the SNAP VIEW, but that was only as long as I held the key combo down. Every time I exit and re-enter the cockpit I get the skewed view. I cannot seem to change the @#$ default view.

Kayos Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 Make sure the folder it is saving to isn't read-only. I think that happened to me the first time I tried to do this. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

How do you edit this file, I mean, how do you get the values? do you export the values from DCS or do you edit it randomly trial and error?
