Hi,

New here - been flying the Russian version for a few days and loving every minute of it.

Can anyone advise please - after I uncage the Shkval (I hope this is the correct name!) using the O key, can I cage it up again to switch off the video feed? I find it has a massive impact on framerates and I'd like to turn it off when not required.

Thanks,

Homer

you press and hold the "lock" key again, and it will allow you to slew. Took me awhile to figure that one out. If there is another way, i'm not sure.

Either use the advice by Groove or press the lock key and move the cursor away from the target

May I offer a tip also? If you are using a HOTAS, map the Lock target key (Enter) on one controller and the Shkval cursor keys to the other. I had them both on the same controller and found it difficult to hold the stick, hold one button and push another at the same time.

^^ yes!..I have this problem! :) .. but have grown a surprisingly prehensile thumb as a result! so all good.

Homer,

Be aware that when you press the "reset" key (backspace), that it will also de-activate any target assistance modes (moving ground target / air target /turn to target or front aspect target) that you have turned on at the time.

Reset will also de-activate any weapons pylons you have selected, but will NOT de-activate Cannon mode. (sometimes you hit "Reset" expecting to get the airspeed HUD indicator back for eg, but if you are in Cannon mode, you will not see this).

I'll also add a tip!

If you have a Target point selected in the PVI-800 , and you uncage the Shkval, it will automatically slew to the target point with no other input. Very handy for quick target aquisition, though only usefull if a target point has be pre-programmed!

May i additionally give you a hint about reading the manual ? :)

Thanks Groove, I have, however, given my advanced years I forget things easily.

It's wise to have "Lock" and "Slew" on the separate units on your HOTAS... One on throtle another on the flight stick.
