28270 Posted March 7, 2022 Posted March 7, 2022 (edited) Since some updates, I can't get the machine gun in A/G mode to go to the exact point in any mode, INS, or GPS, the calculation never gets me to the exact point. The GBUs and JDAMs miss by one or two meters designated moving or stationary targets. Not the precision I was used to. This occurs by starting a mission with the aircraft underway, or performing an alignment power-up. Like I say, it's random, it mainly affects air-to-ground attack modes. EDIT: I'm using TPOD to designate targets. Edited March 7, 2022 by 28270
Sarge55 Posted March 7, 2022 Posted March 7, 2022 If the worst miss you are seeing is only two (2) meters then that sounds pretty good. Especially considering the blast radius of these bombs are significant. 28270 Posted March 7, 2022 Author Posted March 7, 2022 I understand, however, it is a similar problem to the one we have with the CCIP modes, the coordinates do not correspond to the calculation of the mark and the bomb ends up hitting somewhere else in IFA-POS/AINS mode. In the case of the machine gun in Air/Ground mode I am experiencing inaccuracies of tens of meters. I've been with the Hornet since it was released and have never had this problem, however, I admit I haven't been following your procedure updates for some time.
Tom Kazansky Posted March 7, 2022 Posted March 7, 2022 Ok. I used to test the accuracy of bombs by enabling unlimited weapons and pressing active pause. If the center of the circle of (many) impacts is off the designated point on the ground then it's a problem of DCS. I don't have results of current DCS version though.
28270 Posted March 7, 2022 Author Posted March 7, 2022 I definitely think this is a bug. Occurs after a change of weapons, going from JDAM to GUN. If I start the attack directly in GUN mode, the scope will give you a correct calculation, but if I go from a JDAM attack to GUN, the calculation is wrong and I am tens of meters short of the target. Unfortunately I can't share the track, because it's a one hour mission and the bombing time is shown out of sync.
28270 Posted March 19, 2022 Author Posted March 19, 2022 I have to insist on the loss of accuracy of the GBU-12 on moving targets, even used by artificial intelligence in excellent mode. In the following exercise we used 16 GBU-12 and only confirmed two positive impacts.
28270 Posted March 25, 2022 Author Posted March 25, 2022 After the last update and a reinstall of DCS from scratch, the A/G gun inaccuracy problem has not reoccurred.

It's still there. Well, I haven't reinstalled the whole thing from scratch... After using JDAMs (possibly all GPS weapons?) the gun shoots way too high. 1
