v2tec Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 As soon as I touch a tree a little bit, on the side or from top, the heli crashes. I believe that's not very realistic, isn't it? I think the top of a tree or the outer branches are very thin and should be able to bend or cut by the rotor when they're hit. Maybe ED could reduce the hit box of trees by x (5?) percentage until the heli is damaged. Could be also used for (not) blocking weapons... 2 ________________________ ________ ______ ___ __ _ Win10 64 Pro, i7-6800K 3.4Ghz, 32 GB (DDR4), Asus Aorus 1080 TI WF, TrackIR 5 / RIFT, Thrustmaster Warthog, Fanatec Pedals, 55" oled 4k TV, Modules:A10C, KA-50, Huey, AV-8B, FA-18, F-16, NTTR, Persian Gulf _ __ ___ ____ _____ ______ _______ ____________
Northstar98 Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 Personally, I'd confine the hitbox to the trunk and maybe major branches. Trees also need to be destructible, not only from weapons but also collisions (possibly extending to vehicles). 1 Modules I own: F-14A/B, F-4E, Mi-24P, AJS 37, AV-8B N/A, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk. sirrah Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 Couldn't agree more, to both of you Although, as for "destructible" trees; for me it'd be enough, if trees were simply to disappear when hit properly. As branches flying around and trees collapsing would probably kill our framerates 1 System specs: i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM - Realsimulator FSSB-R3 ~ That nuke might not have been the best of ideas, Sir... the enemy is furious ~ GUMMBAH

As branches flying around and trees collapsing would probably kill our framerates I mean, I'm okay with them disappearing or having them fall vertically (as with buildings) - it's only an animation without any physical modelling, so even having them be knocked over shouldn't be too bad. 1 Modules I own: F-14A/B, F-4E, Mi-24P, AJS 37, AV-8B N/A, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk. unlikely_spider Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 Yeah, it hinders our ability to reenact some of the more harrowing operations as described in Chickenhawk, where the author Robert Mason provided some much-needed tree trimming services for the Vietnamese while simultaneously airlifting infantry. 1 Modules: Wright Flyer, Spruce Goose, Voyager 1
