Hi @D4n! What are you trying you trying to achieve? Trying to run a dedicated server? Because I take it you know you cannot run two instances of DCS on the same computer. Well, you can but then they need to be dedicated servers, or on a VM. Doesn't matter if you have several installs on different hard drives. That's not how it works. This is the file that blocks multiple instances. Cheers!
D4n Posted March 22, 2022 Author Posted March 22, 2022 What... one per "write dir".... write dir=an SSD/HDD or not?? Art-J Posted March 23, 2022 Posted March 23, 2022 Whatever the message means (and I admit it's a bit cryptic) is irrelevant. What matters is, as mentioned above, two DCS.exes cannot run together on the same PC at the same time. Not normally, that is. 1 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
TOViper Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 (edited) What about changing the file dcs_variant.txt in the DCS installation folder? You could there write instead of DCS.openbeta something like DCS.openbeta2 Running DCS.exe from this second installation would then create a DCS.openbeta2 folder in SAVED GAMES, so the dcs.lock should not be a problem anymore. Edit: I use DCS_openbeta_2.5.3, DCS_openbeta_2.5.6, DCS_openbeta_2.7.x for my installations, since I have multiple installations on my system, each using its "own" configuration folder. Works like a charm. EDIT: You are correct. This does work. Even with the same ED account. I cannot really see any usage for this, unless you want to use the mission editor while playing. When I think about it. You can probably use this to cheat some way in MP. Would probably be better to have two computers and two screens though. Edited April 1, 2022 by MAXsenna Missing text
