ldwater Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 Is their a quicker way for the CPG to slave the TADs to pilot Line of sight? I know you can change the ACQ to the pilot HMD, but the process using the MPDs to switch the ACQ seems a bit fiddly and takes a little while longer than I'd like, especially if the pilot only has a short amount of time to look at the target. I read in the manual their is a 'link' option but I can't seem to find much about it. Anyone got a faster (ie, single button press) way of slaving the TADS to pilot LOS? Thanks! 2

kgillers3 Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 Not gong to explain link, but that's not what it does, sorry. You could potentially make a macro based off the MPD and just ensure that you have one of the pages up with the acq source available for your single button push.
kgillers3 Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 You'd have to bind 2 buttons for the MPD of your choice, you'd be looking for "Left / Right MPD Pushbutton - R6" and "Left / Right MPD Pushbutton - R1" make the macro for the buttons you've assigned, and ensure you have that page up on the appropriate page. Then when you push whatever macro it will make your selection to the PHS for the acq source. Not perfect but it's a workaround @ldwater

jayst0r Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 CasmoTV mentioned in one of his videos that as a CPG you most like want to have set ACQ to P-HMD most of the times so u only have to hit the slave button. for the reason you mentioned, quick slaving. For night ops its a different story as you maybe want to use C-HMD as ACQ and slave so u have TADS following ur Head in Sight mode, and you can quickly unslave as needed. Coming from an F16/F18 perspective I am surprised that there is no ACQ and maybe MFD page select in form of a HOCRAS command.

Yeah I know what you mean but as a CPG I seem to be juggling between looking at the objective (set as a ACQ) and looking for threats on route so having to swap ACQ source between WP (to check out the objective), GHS (to verify threats on route) and then in addition to PHS (if / when it happens) Just seems that the need for PHS is much more immediate and would have been good to have something very quick to swap over to.
