I am posting here as I am currently compiling an AH64D suite of kneeboard pages, but I do have this issue with other modules as well, so its likely a DCS wide query........

So, depsite having great quality .png files when I look at them after being made, I seem to get a fair bit of quality degradation when I view the pages as kneeboard in the sim.....also, some random pages have a red background?

Any idea whats happening and how to sort it?

That's my idea, there's no "quality degradation" on kneeboard by DCS.

You problem must be the resolution and/or size design of the page.
768x1024 pixels and more bigger but in the same ratio always works great for me.

And, I don't prefer to use red color. Unfortunately it's being corrupted due to image compression.

See you.

Thanks, I have not used Red - the original is a white background and the size is 10000 x 13200. There are 7 sheets in the checklist and 1,2 & 7 show white background in DCS , the rest show red....they all came from the same user file download and all of them are white when you look at them as .png files within windows. I have tried upload one of the red ones......but I get a server cache resources exhausted error message?

WOW! 10k x 13k???

Who did this "sheet"? 😄 Someone trying to prepare a poster for a wall?

Man! Reduce the size of it. It's too big. Maybe DCS struggles to shrink it down and that's why you see the image like bad quality.

I  create my KBs in PowerPoint or Excel, then use snip tool and save in PNG.   Needs renaming as lower case .png file, but otherwise works great and produced reasonable sized KBs that are eminently readable, even in VR

A ratio of 4:6 or 0.66 seems to be the recommended. I try to create kneeboards that don't need zooming in to see the info if possible. Such as the commands for George at 2240x3338 (0.67) 1.5MB - could have been smaller. Some other examples like the popular Case landing procedures for the Hornet by Dmitriy which have very detailed text are at 1358x2048 (0.66) 409KB. Those you'll need to zoom in to read. So it varies and depends. Even if the ratio is not 'correct', the game seems to fit it in but it will be distorted. (Has to be in png format.)

Kneeboard files can be PNG or JPG format. I have good results with a 683 x 1024 file which I used as a template for all my kneeboards.

Oh and I should add I play in 2k ultrahigh resolution: 3440 x 1440.
