Pilot Radar Lock Cancel

Quick q here: what button do you press to cancel a pilot radar lock? For example I press 'target designate forward' to radar lock up a target, but I want to cancel that lock.

The pilot doesn't have a switch explicitly for that purpose. I use tend to use PLM for this purpose, as long as there isn't a target at your boresight within 5 miles it will break lock and or reset your TWS scan. Failing that, you can ask Jester to break lock for you.

You would press the same button again. Like if you're in PAL, press the button that activates PAL to get out of it.

But it starts another search so it may not be desired. PLM is safer option.

You can also ask Jester to break the lock using the Jester wheel.
