DCS: F-4E - Episode IV - RADAR Pt. 1 - Basics and Theory
Q3ark replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4 Phantom
I didn’t realise the huge gap in performance between the F4 and the F14, the tomcat, with its radar and datalink is light years ahead. I can see why it was so popular with crews in the fleet. With a good RIO the old cat can give modern jets a hard time. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited to get my hands on the phantom , I can’t wait to see what heatblur have in store for us. -
Congratulations, you win at the internet today
-
Dude I'm not arguing with anyone, i wasn't even talking to you.
-
I am not picking sides or placing blame. This should have remained private and been resolved in the background, that's on razbam. Now it's out, as the owner of the IP ED is in a position to control the information coming out by making some kind of statement or update, helping set customers minds at ease and putting a stop to the uninformed speculation. That statement released by Nick Grey did nothing but fan the flames. These kind of disputes should be resolved at the lowest level possible, if Nick Grey is getting involved it's looking bad.

If a reduction in drama is what you want then it’s down to ED to make a statement, or post some updates regarding what’s going on, their intentions etc. Nobody here is an employee of either company, if they want to speculate in the absence of any official update then that’s up to them.

F-4E Phantom II Development Update and Release Delay Announcement
Q3ark replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4 Phantom
In winter I run a taxing 3D application at maximum graphics to heat my room, does this count? -
I’m sure everyone saw that ED put up a video saying the chinook is up for pre-purchase, the timing sucks, it looks bad coming so close after this public bust up. I won’t be buying any first party DCS stuff until this gets resolved.

I posted then thought twice, don’t want to cause a row or make stuff personal -
F-4E Phantom II Development Update and Release Delay Announcement

I’m just getting bored of people trying to stir up drama where none exists, the whole idea that there’s some ulterior motive to the release delay or that “they” are lying to us is ridiculous.- 308 replies

F-4E Phantom II Development Update and Release Delay Announcement
Q3ark replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4 Phantom
No you’re right there, they’re totally lying and making stuff up just to mess with you, it’s personal and you should ask for a refund and stop playing DCS entirely- 308 replies

From their press release about the delay Heatblur are aiming for May, if they don’t hit anymore problems I don’t see why we should be pessimistic about them getting it out by then.
-
They’re doing my head in, every patch lately seems to mess something up, six weeks between patches instead of four and still stuff gets through that shouldn’t
-
I thought they fixed that issue a few patches back, I’ll go through the change logs and see.
-
I think it's too early to be speculating about taking the module off sale, as soon as they do that it's all over, people will be screaming for refunds. Couple of weeks and this will all be a memory, they'll (ED and RB) have a chill weekend and come back to the table next week with cooler heads and sort it all out like adults.

F-4E Phantom II Development Update and Release Delay Announcement
Q3ark replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4 Phantom
For everyone freaking out about Chromium being used in the F4 module, it's not just used for internet browsing the below is from Wikipedia. "The Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) is an open-source software framework for embedding a Chromium web browser within another application. This enables developers to add web browsing functionality to their application, as well as the ability to use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create the application's user interface (or just portions of it)." I think that last part is the most important to remember, they're using it for the jester interface, the new bombing calculator and probably a bunch of other cool stuff. -

You’re a happy chap. How about you don’t buy the module. -
I read I think it was in the Haynes Tomcat manual, the HUD was supposed to be upgraded after the first few prototypes but the navy didn't want to pay for it.

F-4E Phantom II Development Update and Release Delay Announcement
Q3ark replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4 Phantom
From HB’s press release the other week it seems the problem system also extends to the new jester interface, it’s not just used for the integrated manual, I think it’ll be worth the wait once we get our hands on it and see it in action. -
My shift key works fine in vr too
-
Show us your landings dude, post a track maybe we can help.

The best thing to do is make sure you’re at the correct weight (under 34,000 lbs) don’t worry about your airspeed at all, if you fly the correct AOA (flight path marker in centre of the E bracket) your airspeed will always be correct for the weight of your aircraft. That should get you down without smashing up the gear.

No logic was used in coming to the conclusion that the mig would release before the F4. It’ll be here in a few weeks, people just need to chill out and relax a bit. -
I’ll have to double check when I get home but if I remember right if you forget to connect ground air or power the. You have to go into the jester menu and re-select assisted startup once you get them connected.
