Toge Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 (edited) There seems to be a few problems in the Reservoir Fight mission. I took a look at it in mission editor and found the following issues: The trigger that checks when the FARP support group has reached its goal checks the wrong zone, so the FARP never appears. Should be "Jump FARP Supp Zone" instead of "FARP Marker Zone". The triggers that activate the village INS groups have one flag incorrect: the 4. activation trigger sets the 3. flag, when it should be 4, so the win condition is not activated if you happen to get 4. village as the main goal. The "win" trigger deactivates all INS groups from the villages after you've killed 50% of them, so e.g. when you've killed enough of the soldiers, the BMP disappears also. Something else might be wrong with the trigger too as the radio message for RTB is never triggered. I fixed the above, except I'm not sure about the last RTB radio message (might work after removing the unit deactivations, or might not. Don't have the will to test this for 5th time...). I also added victory conditions so you'll get 100 result once you've destroyed the radar, the AAAs and the final village insurgents. I could upload the fixed mission file to DCS user file repo, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to make it publicly available as the original is basically ED property...? I'll take a look at the other issues you mentioned. Because this mission randomly spawns units, it was difficult to test every possible instance. Thank you for your comments and insights. It is a simple trigger so…I'm not sure what the issues is except the radio call s coming from the initial FARP - between 35 to 40 km away in mountainous terrain. It could be that the signal is not strong enough although I bumped it to 100 watts. I may need to add a Pred as comms relay, but that introduces a bunch of distracting comms. The fixes will be resubmitted. I typically do not add a scoring system. Some training missions have a graded end - PASS/FAIL or the like, but that is typical for military training. Toge Posted March 31, 2022 Author Posted March 31, 2022 (edited) Glad I could help! Yeah, not sure either what happened with the RTB message. Anyway the disappearing enemy forces were strange. I got village 3 as my objective, and I first shot the tower, trucks and the guys around them. Then I moved on to shoot the four other guys hanging out a bit close to the road, and got three of them, and couldn't anymore find the fourth one anywhere. I never saw the BMP that was supposed to be there either, only later saw in editor that it was supposed to be in the trees. But I basically drove through the road and never saw the BMP, so I figured it actually disappeared like the one guy on foot, and looking at the triggers, it actually did. So imho, getting the RTB after killing most of the enemy is fine, but the rest of the enemy should still stay there and not disappear miraculously Again, it's a fun mission, so thanks for that! Hangar200 Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 The "magical disappearing" enemy. The Trigger Action "Group Deactivate" removes the group; i.e. it disappears. Typically I like to use that since you are sure the group is gone/not going to interact…it shouldn't but…ehhh. However, you saw the BMP disappear and that breaks the illusion. So I changed the trigger actions to Group AI OFF. The BMP should just stop working as if its crew decided to run away in terror. 1 R/ Hangar 200 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

At first I expected a command post truck to be parked at the base of the dam due to the intel images having a "CP" marked there. Destroying the Dog Ear the convoy moves on. Disappointingly the FARP never materializes. The action at the town is quite convincing but takes a looooong time to happen. I sat and watched and it took 75 minutes from mission start. I haven't experienced the rest at all beyond that. Enemy forces are good, threatening but mild, a bit too easy to see but that's good as a practice for me. I would like to see some kind of interesting weather. 20C 760mmHg gets old. I do notice significant winds. I hope Paris gets some visual landmarks. The low texture terrain makes it difficult to judge landing. I was flipping back and forth from F10 to try to hit the invisible FARP pad (should be hidden?) and crashed. I have tried the Reservoir Fight mission several times now and whilst I land next to the vehicles at the FARP I cannot get the ground crew to refuel or rearm the Apache. Moxica posed a request back in October but didn't get a response to his question? Is the mission updated with each Alpha/Beta release or is there a patched download version? Has the mission been fixed and I am doing something wrong? Look forward to a reply, thanks

Yes I have tried both hot and cold refuel/rearming, (BTW I normally do hot refuel/rearming which works on all other FARPS in different missions), but without success, the ground crew just don't respond. I have knocked out the two AAA in the village and returned to Paris FARP a couple of times and tried loitering until the FARP exists. The green smoke goes off and the ground vehicles appear so I know the triggers are working, but I just can't get any response from the ground crew, (maybe I should try calling them in Georgian? ). Happy to try any suggestions including editing the mission if it will get the ground crew to respond
