It appears that after the latest update, the Auto Ranging for both the CPG and Pilot has been broken.

Steps I took:

Pilot:

Lift off, holding at Hover

A/S: Armed

WAS Gun

Weapon Page

Manrange boxed

"A" entered into Computer

Enter Pressed

Range still showed M1.5 in HMD

WAS Rockets

Weapon Page

Manrange boxed

"A" entered into Computer

Range still showed M1.5 in HMD

Gunner - Same steps as above but range showed M3.0

Strange. I have no issues with this. Can't see that anyone else has either. I just quickly did both a cold start and hot start to check - no problems changing to automatic using the same process you described.

I'm not sure what the issue is, but I don't think it's a bug introduced in the update. Maybe run a repair just in case?

If cold start, make sure RAD ALT is turned ON. If hot start, still make sure you have RAD ALT readout on your IHADSS.

Forgot about Rad Alt! That would be it. For the OP - it's located on the FLT -> SET page.

I had something similar last night, hot start btw.

Took off, set rockets to auto, all good. Used all my rockets (and only managed to hit one truck! But that’s another story) and then selected gun.

But try as I might I could not get the gun to go Auto range.

Would that be a rad alt issue too?

Edit: Looks likely to be user error 😄

How high were you when you tried to set auto range?

Some where between the ground and 2k feet. I think what happened (twice) was I had a character already on the little keyboard thingy screen, so it was entering 0A for example instead of just A. Hope that makes sense. 🙂

I wish we didn’t have to set Auto range every time we switched weapons. Also I remain a god awful shot with or without auto ranging. 🥸
