  1. I think the 'save game' might be the biggest thing there for me. I am simple man.
  2. If Top Gun Maverick taught us anything, it's to just yank the stick to either side, do a little roll and provoke intense dizziness and nausea in the pursuing pilot.
  3. Hey, just trying this mission for the first time and didn't want to start another thread - sort of the same issue as Razor18 above. What does it mean in the briefing by offsetting to intercept a 3 mile arc north? I know the campaign is supposed to be difficult, but it's language I just haven't come across. Could really do with a diagram to illustrate this...
  4. Bit late here - but you should never have to adjust your loadout in this, or any, campaign. After all... it isn't for the pilot to decide!
  5. Well that was a fairly patronising reply. Appreciate you took the time, but maybe don't talk to people like they're children? And I haven't "botched" anything. This is the first time I've started the game since about January.
  6. Oh, and when I actually started the .exe within the bin-mt folder, there are no modules installed.
  7. So due to studies haven't played for months - just tried to start with MT for the first time, but could not find the bin-mt folder. Until I discovered... there's an entire DCS Open Beta folder (amounting to 130GB) contained within the top DCS Open Beta folder. This can't be right, can it? What's going on here??
  8. Yep. Can't believe this hasn't been fixed yet. Two whole years later.
  9. Thanks guys! I think I will go for the 7800X3D, but the GPU is a whole other story... I'm completely torn between the 6950XT and the 4070 Ti. Being told on the PCSpecialist forum to choose the former, as I won't be using ray-tracing the 4070 won't give me much extra but then isn't DCS going to utilise DLSS at some point relatively soon? This is a hard choice! Haha.
  10. Thank you for the info @kksnowbear much appreciate you taking the time for that. But honestly, the RGB stuff doesn't really interest me all that much (never really 'got it'!) - it's just that PC Specialist only really offer decent RAM that comes with that function. So if the lights don't work, but the hardware itself does... that's all that matters to me
  11. Yep! You absolutely have a point there... costs almost nothing to go to 512. Amended that, along with the 4070 Ti. Just to check finally, is that CPU good enough to last me the next 4 years comfortably enough?
  12. Oh, the HDD is for photos/movies/documents, etc. So in addition to adding my current 1TB SSD, plus the new 1TB one and the 256GB one. It's more than enough for my gaming needs, really.
  13. That's what I've been reading - that Nvidia is better with DCS. The 4070 Ti is about £200 more, while the 4080 is waaay too much. Is the 4070 Ti worth that extra bit? Glad to hear it's a decent machine though! The CPU/GPU were my main concerns.
  14. Hey guys, Just need the confirmation of people who know more than me on these things (not difficult!). I'm about ready for my 4-yearly new PC, and as usual I'll be ordering from PCSpecialist in the UK. Those are what I've currently got chosen below, but wondering how that'll do for DCS (only other concerns are MSFS and Star Citizen) and whether it'll do me comfortably for the next 4 years. I'm not a VR user and won't be for a long time, I imagine, so that's not an issue. This is pretty much the limit of my budget, which is why I've gone with an AMD card for the first time ever. Nvidia cards just seem so expensive for what you're getting, and 3080s have entirely disappeared from PCSpecialist. Will also be transferring my current SSD on top of the options there. So.. any valuable opinions or suggestions for me?
  15. I don't really think it matters anymore? I don't even remember this happening, to be honest...
  16. Oh god... now Electronic Arts are getting involved?? Guess we'll be seeing micropayments in the update - $10 if you want to use that runway, $15 to fire that missile...
  17. I've just finished the campaign and thought I'd give a few things I noticed. Starting the final mission, before it leaves my memory! - It's all just a bit too chaotic... There are 4 targets, but I have absolutely no idea which one I'm supposed to attack, or if it's just a free-for-all. The three waypoints in different places don't make it any more clear. And this is an observation which applies to other missions too - especially the one where you attack an HQ SAM on an island: The invulnerability of your wingmen is extremely immersion-breaking and gamey. I understand that DCS helo AI is pitifully bad... but they just directly overfly the target. And you can see them getting hammered with Gepards, Iglas, all of it. And just flying on. Honestly, I'd rather have no wingman than unkillable Supermen. It leaves me thinking 'Why am I even here?'. Mission 11 - pictures pop up with coordinates and tell me that I can hit 'spacebar' because they're in the kneeboard anyway - but they aren't in the kneeboard. Also with that mission - the guys that randomly appear in the middle of the crater were a little too sudden for me. I know it's an ambush, but they aren't Tusken Raiders that can appear out of the sand. I have enjoyed the campaign, and some aspects of it were a decent enough challenge. My main advice would be the detail/procedure in the briefings - just for a bit more clarity on what the player is supposed to be doing, how and when. The last mission was the perfect example of that.
  18. It's definitely a strange thing to say it's "correct as is" - surely it can't be? As the OP says, it's in motion as well, not just pause, so the whole "shutter speed" idea is irrelevant. Hopefully this is looked at again.
  19. Don't worry about this - the video was made when the switches worked incorrectly and have been fixed since. They are not supposed to stay up - they should spring back to the middle, so it is correct as is.
  20. No problem! All campaigns have little things after release! Even just writing somewhere in the briefing "Saber 3-2 [PLAYER] will lead from WP1 to WP2" would be enough. It was just unexpected when it happened, and then I was confused by the AI's crazy acrobatics at WP1, haha. Another thing is... later in the mission, you get a communication about looking for Humvees (a green one?) at Charlie, then suddenly you're instructed to go back to the highway and keep looking. It's all a little confusing - I'm asking myself what happened at Charlie? What am I looking for on the highway? I used the F-10 map to see that it was three Humvees, but that wasn't clear from the dialogue. And finally (I promise) - the CPG calls out visual on the Humvees waaaay too early (the friendly ones at the beginning, and also the hostile ones later on). I know he has access to FLIR, but it seems a little too far to be reading the number plates! Especially in a sandstorm.
  21. This happened to me too - the solution is to not stop when he stops. Just ignore him and keep going straight to your WP2. Saber 3-1 will stop doing that crazy stuff and come back to form up on your right.
  22. Haha, yeah I was landing while he was on the runway too. Just flew a few feet over the top of him, to express my annoyance at his hogging of the all the runway.
  23. Hmm... trying for the 3rd time... Am I supposed to be the flight lead?? Now he's finally following me after WP1, because I didn't try to slow down for him. It's not really clear, to be honest...
  24. Should also add that Saber 3-1 is doing very weird things at WP1 too. He just plummets to the ground and bobs up and down along the ground for a few minutes. And flies through every tree he can find.
  25. Not entirely sure what's going on here... Are we supposed to follow Saber 3-1 the whole way? Because he doesn't have the same waypoints as the player aircraft. After the player's WP2, Saber 3-1 just keeps flying for about 15 minutes, with no dialogue. This doesn't seem right... why would the two flights have different waypoints? Am I supposed to leave Saber 3-1 and go to my own WP2?
