Hosting with black shark i think i found a bug

i'm not to sure if this is something interesting screwed up with my machine or if its something with the list however that works? but heres whats going on if i can even explain in because its so confusing it makes my brain hurt :joystick:

 

 

i have my gaming rig and then i have a server next to me and on the server for black shark i have the port 10308 forwarded in my router and the IP pointing to my server and it has worked perfectly for lockon since its the same port...... well when i want to host on my gaming rig for black shark i log into the router and change the IP to point to my gaming rig and it works perfectly...... well for some reason when i try to host black shark on my server and the port IS forwarded to the right machine i click "server" in black shark multiplayer and choose internet and have the port as 10308 and it has worked on my gaming rig many many times before....... but for some reason in the list it does not have 10308 as the port and it seems to randomly generates one??????????

 

 

so i forward a different port with the public being that or something and the private 10308 because in LAN viewing through my gaming RIG the port is 10308........ and i get it to work???? i dont have any idea where its getting these random ports or if it is my router doing it but every time i start up a server i have to enter in a new port because it generates one..... if anyone has a conclusion i am banging my head against a wall here because it just does not make sense. :doh:

no, it makes no sense :)

 

i have the same problem, when i set up a server, the port behind my IP is wrong!

 

so when the players try to connect, they appear in the game, but they have the "pause"-symbol in the corner, around 1 minute later they disconnect (THEY get the message "server has been shut down".

 

if this is the case, the people have to enter the port behind the IP manually, then it works! your server is running on port 10308, bit just sets and shows a differnt one in the lobby

 

...which, indeed, makes no sense at all :)

right LOL but i did get it working buy having the 10308 port open and then having a different port open and on this different port i have whatever the server is showing the port as the public port and then 10308 as the private port and it works. weird :P but for some reason in game if i change the port from 10308 or if i restart the game i'll get a new generated port again LOL

i know :). we tried to evaluate what it could be, but honestly we have no idea... a friend of mine thougt about other programs running in the background, and blackshark just "grabbing" that port to display. but the damned portnumber changes from time to time, so i really think it's bug-related. or maybe it's a feature? ;)

now while the server is up over night running it automaticaly changed itself to 63998?? :( any Dev know whats going on? i'll contact the owners to some other servers and see how they did it. mine is the only one in the list with different port ?! but yesterday there were some diff ones

can someone who knows black shark inside and out tell me what the port range black shark uses????? because every day randomly the port changes and no one can connect... it would be nice to not have that happen........ or to have 10308 just be forced in the next patch?

as i have the very same thing happening to servers hosted by myself - which informations would you like to have?

 

basic informations:

OS: XP home 32 bit, sp3, .net framework 3 (i think - the newest one)

Connection: Cable, 15'000/1'500 DL/UL Kbit/s

Router: DLink 314+, connected by LAN cable

Static IP for PC: yes

Forwarded Port: 10308, both (TCP and UDP), to static IP

Antivirus Software: Avira Antivir (the personal free-to-use one)

Hamachi: Installed, the digital Network-Card active, but Hamachi itself not running

 

Behaviour: I open up a server, and ppl can connect as long as they change the port manually to 10308 before connecting (I use passwort protection). Even if my server is taken from the History, SOME ppl get a wrong port by default.

Notice: some ppl just can click and connect with no problem, the port is shown as 10308 to them...

 

hope it helps in any way... otherwise, i can host that server for den devs and they can try it by themselfes if they want. i live in europe, so different time zones shoud not be that big a problem :)

The router i have is a D-Link DI-624 and its a wireless router but my gaming rig and Server are connected directly....... and i'll give you a screenshot of my port forwarding page...... on my gaming rig i can host fine it uses 10308 no problem and in the router i forward it to my gamer rigs LAN IP and it works fine.... however when i forward the 10308 port to the SERVER's LAN IP which ends with .102 and when i put the server up in DCS:BS multiplayer the Port behind the IP in the server list when having other people check and when i check the list myself with my gamer rig, it is some completly random port like 62298 or 60024 or 63998 or 60436 you name it is just makes up a random por and trust me there is never the same one :( ...... so the only way for me to get it to work is if id have the port 10308 both UDP and TCP forwarded like normal but then to have another port forwarded with the private port being 10308 and the "Randomly" Generated port being the public port..... and every time it changes i have to logg into the router again and change the public port...... but this doenst do it only when i start the server it will do it randomly while the server is going so it KICKS Everyone and they then cannot connect again untill i correct the newly randomly generated port and put it in as the public port in my router. :( oh and by the way i for SURE have the port 10308 specified in the server in game....

This first screen is my router set up with my port forwarding...... when i have normal 10308 port forwarded to my gamer rig it has worked.... but to my server it does the randomness..... a product of having 2 blacksharks in one LAN?? :( i bought 2 diff copies.. both different Key's

This is Important.....

when i connect through LAN from my gamer rig the port SHOWS correct at 10308 but when i connect through internet the port is showing as randomized...........

Additionally question: Did you tried both Lan and Internet settings on the server start screen ? What are the results?

the only way for people to connect to my server is if i have someone check and see what port is listed behind the IP of the server and they can get in after i open that port.............. and i have tried both LAN and Internet settings and LAN works Great the Port is always 10308 through LAN no matter what but through internet its always changing.... and its also randomly changing while the server is running? LOL it is the weirdest thing! :P i have tried everything Groove :( i think it might be something with having 2 games on one LAN? because i have my Gamer rig and then my Server but dont worry i have bought 2 diff copies ;) another thing is when i host on my gamer rig the port is always correct...... if worse comes to worse i might try reformatting my server? i dont know :(

 

take a look at my screenshot of my router settings... at the bottom of the list the only way i can have pple connect is by pointing the 10308 port to my server and then having a new port below it and have the public port be the randomized one and then the private port (to my server) being 10308 because 10308 is set in game.

here is an interesting thing....... the random port that shows and keeps people from connecting... but if my squad mates manually type in my IP and put the port 10308 in instead of the random one it works! so for some reason it IS just showing wrong in the list and whoever clicks on it, it wants to use that port but when they force it to use 10308 just like the server is set on in server set up, it WORKS :D just thought that might be helpful.

i just tried doing automatic updates on the server and i even tried doing a factory reset on my router.... nothing. :( just letting ya'll know what i have tried ;)
