Serben Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 (edited) When i start the game from the start menu shortcut, i get the game window and music starts playing in the background, and then an error message pops up, saying : "Runtime Error! c:\games\black shark\bin\stable\launcher.exe abnormal program termination" Someone please tell me how to fix it. Thank you. Edited December 18, 2008 by Serben
Prophet Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Make sure your GFX drivers are up to date. Did you allow DX to install?
Serben Posted December 18, 2008 Author Posted December 18, 2008 I have the latest catalyst drivers (version 8.12) and i installed the direct x that came with the game.
ED Team Groove Posted December 18, 2008 ED Team Posted December 18, 2008 Serben, is there a *.crash file in your temp folder? If yes, please attach it to a post. Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
Serben Posted December 18, 2008 Author Posted December 18, 2008 Serben, is there a *.crash file in your temp folder? If yes, please attach it to a post. No, there isn't. The game never even gets to the main menu. It just starts in a window, and then background music starts playing, and then immediately it crashes. I ecen tried re-installing the latest visual c++ redistributable, since the runtime error was c++ related, but that didn't work.
ZaltysZ Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 If you are using any video/audio codec packs, try running the game with them uninstalled. Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
Serben Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 If you are using any video/audio codec packs, try running the game with them uninstalled. I tried uninstalling them, but it didn't work. By the way, it might be hardware related, so here are my specs: Graphics: Ati 4870x2 CPU: Intel q9450 quad core overclocked to 3ghz RAM: 4Gb of PC8500 1066Mhz Soundcard: Creative x-fi Fatal1ty
Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 If you're overclocking, try running everything at stock voltages, speeds, and settings.
Serben Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 Overclocking wouldn't cause a visual c++ runtime error. Overclocking causes BSOD, random reboots and complete system freezes, but not runtime errors. Runtime errors are caused by bugs in the c++ code, which leads me to believe the only thing that will make this game run is a patch. But i don't feel like waiting for that, so if anyone has any ideas that would be great.
Serben Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 By the way, these are the files in my temp folder. There is no *.crash file, but these other files might still be useful so i'm uploading them.Temp.rar
Serben Posted December 20, 2008 Author Posted December 20, 2008 I finally figured it out. I have a USB playstation 2 controller that has a setting called "compatible mode" in its configuration software, and by turning that setting on i got the game working. So i've been playing it for all day now and finally memorized the cold startup sequence in simulation mode, and tried flying around doing stuff. But a few minutes ago the game crashed, and now it refuses to run. It gives me another runtime error. It doesn't matter if i unplug my USB controller or not, it won't run. But this time it made a *.crash file in my temp dir. Here it is.DCS-20081220-202619.rar

Ulrich Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Up. Anyone knows what controller is needed for such a crash?
strannick Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 This is what i got when i was installing Black Shark. extract failed on code error 2 how about some help? and i could use some clarity on what they mean on the download page about installing into the same folder. the eagle folder? the ka50 folder? extract that data1 file? i have no idea about this crap. lets have some precision here please.
Acedy Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 @strannick: to install BS just put the setup.exe and data1.cab files into the same directory and run the setup.exe. Nothing else. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] *** SERVMAN SERVER MANAGEMENT MOD V2 FOR DCS:BS V1.0.1 *** *** VERSION FOR FC2 ***
strannick Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 @strannick: to install BS just put the setup.exe and data1.cab files into the same directory and run the setup.exe. Nothing else. By "same directory" do you mean save each download into the same folder?
strannick Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 and do i have to extract all the data1.cab files into that same folder?
strannick Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 i did like someone else said, and downloaded the exe file from the ''russian mirror'' (whatever that means), and i have now crossed the floor from the ''problems and bugs'' forum to the ''gameplaying good times'' forum, and on revin er up, its like when john travola opened the glowing box in pulp fiction ''its.....beautiful....
jdrichard Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I have the creative FX card too...perhaps.....
Guest Mariner Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Up. Anyone knows what controller is needed for such a crash? Hi, for me it "works" (i.e. crashes) with my old MS Sidewinder FFB Joystick (the first edition, gameport only). An even older MS Precision pro (also gameport only) works very well. The result is as described above (see attachement).
