Varjo Aero: Общее руководство для новых владельцев

I put focus at 1.5 and peripheral at .5.

I DO see a box around the area I'm assuming is the focus area-but only in bright settings and with NVG, but otherwise it works great.

Only the Open Beta currently has the MT support. Not the stable version. And if you are running that with an Aero it would be a crime not to run with DFR/eye tracking as it gains so much in performance and of course the Aero already having the eye tracking.

Trust me DCS Beta with DFR/eye tracking in Open XR is da bomb!

https://github.com/mbucchia/Varjo-Foveated/wiki

If you are only willing to run the DCS stable branch then you will need to wait a bit on the DFR/eye tracking feature to propogate to it.

Unfortunately, and correct if I'm wrong. You can't use openXr toolkit with the Foveated rendering, meaning that there is no way to adjust colors or sharpening if you use it.

New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1)

Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).

I tried running the MT version of DCS yesterday (i.e., native OpenXR) and the controllers didn't appear in DCS. They work fine until DCS is loaded, and then they just disappear in VR and their input isn't registered until I close DCS again. If I disable OpenXR support in Varjo Base and go the DCS -> OpenXR -> SteamVR -> Varjo route, then I get my controllers back and everything works fine.

Can anyone confirm? Bonus question: Has there been side-by-side testing on native OpenXR vs. OpenXR via Steam (so should I even care?)?

To my understandning that is correct - at least currently.

Haven’t used Vr controllers with DCS recently so can’t comment on that, but from my limited testing DFR OpenXR has around 1.0-1.5 ms GPU frametimes advantage vs Steam OpenXR in MT.  I have no good way to compare CPU frametimes until OXRTK supports DFR mode.

Need some help here, I updated to a new Mbo and a AMD 7800X3D processor, but now I cannot login to varjo Base

Any ideas?
I uninstalled  Varjo Base, re installed , nothing!

I had that before. Varjo is basically saying your old MOBO is another computer. You need to go to Varjo site, and logout of ALL other computers.

@OP: You wrote about this Color issue: 3. Chromostereopsis

I actually have this issue and can see all 4 layers. While its not a gamebreaker its still annoying.
Is there anything that i can do about that? Some setting to change somewhere?

Thanks

Upgraded from an i9 10900K to an AMD 7800X3D processor.

Huge increase in performance, very smooth game play.

So I decided to test Motion Smoothing, no go, even with this processor , not smooth, choppy, and artifacts.

No VSYNC Getting smooth gameplay even with close to 40 planes, smoke, and a big dogfight down low, now and then there is a small stutter, still have not overclocked the 7800 and still more tweaking to do, Varjo Motion Smoothing still broken for DCS, but with this processor not needed.

There's an option in OpenXR toolkit that will minimize this.  Note that OXRTK currently doesn't work with DFR mode so if you want to avoid color pop-in/out issues you will have to use stereo mode (either via Steam OpenXR or Varjo OpenXR with InstanceExtension wrapper) plus OXRTK.

Hey Guys, Thinking of getting the Aero. Any suggestions on a good headset with mic that’s compatible with it and easy to integrate, get on/off? Thanks

Yeah you will definitely want something better. I myself use earbuds, I have a Creative Sound Dac I plug my earbuds into for gaming. And I just use a desktop USB mic. Hopefully some others that have tried headset with mic can get you some feedback as well.

OpenVR disabled in varjo base and trying to launch native openxr with the DCS MT shortcut and --force_VR doesn't seem to work after most recent patch.  It tries to launch steamvr in openvr mode and gets a HMD error, then launches the DCS game in 2d mode anyways.  Anyone know what changed or why this solution doesn't work anymore?

I use a Steelseries Arctis Nova 7 with my Aero. Works great and fits comfortably over the Aero.

I am using the steelseries arctis nova pro. Costly but VERY comfortable and awesome sound.

Regarding Aero: Did Varjo ever say when they plan to implement local dimming? Having better blacks is the only thing I am missing right now. Otherwise i love it.

Leave Open VR enabled in Varjo Base also ( in addition to Open XR).

DCS MT Shortcut should have --force_OpenXR at the end , this is how mine is:  "D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin-mt\DCS.exe" --force_OpenXR  Obviously mine is installed on my D drive, substitute whatever drive letter your Open Beta is on.

Make sure VR is checked in graphics options. (No need for --force-VR in shortcut if you have VR checked in graphics options.

oh nice!  I'll definitely look at doing that for when I don't need a mic (like in DCS) .... or I'm sure wiring the pins to a mic as well won't add a lot of complexity

Not sure why motion smoothing is giving you grief.  Works gr8 for me. Locked at 45

Its with WWII fighter doing dogfights and have planes moving around in front of you , they get blutty.

For sightseeing or ground attack works great.

Anyone else having some real low fps/lag at the beginning of joining a server or spawning in with the aero reprojection fixed to 45? Non reprojection i dont notice. Secondly flying around there will be sudden drops to low fps with reprojection on...about 3 to 5 sec. This is using MT version with DFR. Rtx 4090, 13900k and 64 gb ddr5 6000mhz.
