are there any working free ww2 fighter mods ?

Hi all,

              I download some ww2 fighter / bombers but it seems the mods no longer work. Are there any working mods of this class ? I used to love MS combat flight simulator but cannot get it to run as it should on windows 10 and would love to have the chance to fly against other on here. I'm sure I will buy one from DCS but after changing PC to a high spec to play dcs and buying the F-16 my gaming budget is blown for this year.

All the ww2 fighters that work, require you to own the P-51 … your cheapest option is Il-2 which is currently on sale with a huge 75% discount.

I have had a look at that but I have rise of flight and I am not impressed with it. I have never manages a single decent dog fight on it. I have head tracking but the planes seem to be in and out and the one I am flying is way to responsive to control even after putting in curves. I use to play an old game called RED Baron which was great. I love the game. By todays standards if very bad graphically but the game play was good and dog fighting was fun and enjoyable. As II-2 is based on this game I am expecting similar problems and then of course you have to start buying planes again. I know they are cheaper but I would rather stick to this platform.

The DCS warbirds are all great, but challenging to learn.
 

Best attribute is that they all feel and fly very differently - something you don’t see in many sims.

The Mosquito is probably my favourite - being a twin brings something different, and of course it is a much missed and iconic UK aircraft in RL

For the single engined fighters, the two 190s are good to fly, but the 109 is great. I really love that DB605 supercharger whine

Although to use the mods, the P-51 will be your best option

I don't know if anyone has such a list, I can only say that for example the Dewoitine D-520 (by Erick & Patrick Cuesta) does work on the latest Openbeta:

 

 

 

However, I use it only as AI units on my missions, as having a P-51 cockpit ruins immersion for me ... I prefer to fly the Bf-109 against these units sets as AI.
