Fuggzy Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 (edited) Is there an easy way to force the TGP to re/center on the flight path marker or cross, despite any loadout? ex. would be DTOS mode, how the TGP slews from whatever whacked-out backwards direction I've got it looking atm, to the FPM. I'd like to do that no matter what loadout I've got. Say I'm flying a clean Viper with TGP only, how do I force it to snap front-and-center from any position? edit: I know about snowplow and have used that, but I want to push a button and boom TGP is is on the FPM. If there's a way, it eludes me. Edited June 19, 2022 by Fuggzy System: Core i9 10980XE @ 4.00GHz -- MB: X299 UD4 Pro -- 32GB RAM -- RTX4070ti -- 1TB Intel NVMe x2 -- Win10 pro
skywalker22 Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 As far as I am aware the SnowPlow (SP) function, which is triggered from the button on left MFD button No.8 (if I`m not mistaken) has no specifal control you can bind. But what you can do, you can bind this button No.8 on the Left MFD to one of your button.
Frederf Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 Don't worry about it. It's not a thing worth wanting. 1
itn Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 Try A-A mode if you're not tracking a radar target. DCS F-16C manual p. 186: Quote The TGP is automatically commanded to the radar line-of-sight when A-A master mode is selected, and the radar is tracking a target. If the radar is not tracking an aerial target, the pod directs its line-of-sight straight ahead at -3° elevation. And per the manual it should be slewable, but didn't seem to work when I tested while back. Not sure what you're looking for (as in a use case) but maybe HUD markpoint could be of use? Make a markpoint and input 0 on mark page to immediately select it as current STPT.

The use case: Sometimes I'm well along into a mission and the TGP is looking at some past point I've been. I have good results when I slew the TGP pipper on HUD as SOI at finding targets that I'm bearing down on, and in this case I want to do that... but the TGP is looking behind me still. Slewing it manually all the way forward is impractical, takes way too long. I wish there was a simple way to "cage" it home to straight ahead, independent of whatever weapons I've got selected. I will investigate using AA mode, thank you! 1 System: Core i9 10980XE @ 4.00GHz -- MB: X299 UD4 Pro -- 32GB RAM -- RTX4070ti -- 1TB Intel NVMe x2 -- Win10 pro
Frederf Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 If you are interested in an area around a steerpoint then select it and TGP will go to STPT. If you are just interested in kinda "up ahead" then snow plow is for you. You can always use DTOS/EO-VIS and slew a box from HUD. When you ground it the TGP will go to the SPI. 1
Solution Viciam1 Posted June 28, 2022 Solution Posted June 28, 2022 (edited) Snowplow (SP) is your friend. Press the button on the tgp screen, press it again...then move the cursor in any direction and the square box should pop up on the hud. Remember to be flying straight and level when you press the cursor slew switch for box to be as straight as possible. If ur banking or pitching...it wont slew directly in front. Try it and report back if it works. Remember you need to press SP twice. First time it will highlight in white and second will remove the white highlight. Then ur good to press the cursor slew switch Edited June 28, 2022 by Viciam1 2 1
