Has anyone downloaded the new MAD JF-17 campaign successfully?

STATUS: Unknown module STONE_SKY_MAD_JF17_THUNDER_campaign

This morning I received a complaint that the player cannot buy campaigns on the official site.
But no one had any problems loading. Are you on Open Beta?

Just came here to say that I finished the first 3 missions yesterday and have been enjoying the campaign a lot so far. I look forward to finishing it this weekend!

Very strange. And it's not in my jurisdiction. You need to write to technical support.
Or you need to check DCS for errors, update, something is clearly not working correctly here.
This error usually appears when the campaign has not yet been loaded into DCS World! But now many have successfully downloaded and are playing

I look forward to your comments and feedback.

Hello I am on the last mission of the campaign. I am confused by something. On the escort mission you are sent in with the data link pod. This confused me becuase with an all air to air loadout there was no need of the data link pod.

Now on the final mission, not only are we going into battle with an air to air loadout covering a friendly flight from aircraft, the briefing says the data link pod is needed to “prevent friendly fire and situational awareness.”

But this is confusing, the data link does not effect the Link 17 situational awareness data link on the HSD at all. That all works using com 2 on the radio and there is no need of any pod. The Data link pod only has one function, to be able to receive video feed from the CM-802AKG missile and to be able to transmit pilot command to it. It’s sole use is the same as the data link pod the US uses to control the walleye and SLAM missiles, if you are not intending to control the MITL CM-802AKG missile it is dead weight.

What would make sense is to replace it with the KG-600 jamming pod which can range RWR contacts, which DOES help situational awareness through the HSD, and allows you to jam enemy aircraft.

I do not know if perhaps this is a bit of role playing of “pretend the data link pod actually is needed for Link-17 fighter to fighter to AWACS datalink,” or if it is an honest mistake misunderstanding the the purpose of the data link pod.

In that final mission, using the mission planner button in the briefing I can change the DL pod to the KG-600 and thus actually be able to use the JF-17 to its maximum potential air to air configuration, but that is the only way.

Oops! Wait, I couldn't be that wrong. I need to learn more about this topic in the tutorial. Are you 100 percent sure of your statement?

Yes. To be honest it was quite a surprise to most of us on release, as block 2 was always advertised as having data link ability and the module is block 1. But Deka explained that the block 1 is capable of data link and it’s explained in the manual, only that block 2 got a third radio dedicated just for data link

If you fly without the data link pod and tune to channel 199, you will have full data link (link-17) ability. Also, the data link pod is stated to only receive signals from level altitude or below the wings, and is unable to receive signals at angles above level, which would make it pretty useless as a general purpose data link used for AWACS and fighters, but works just fine as a MITL cruise missile control data link.

So it’s understandable to think it’s needed for all data link, but is not the case and is intended. Once you stop carrying it for air to air missions and take jammer or fuel instead (especially with how the jammer gives you range to RWR contacts which allows you to need use less radar and know how far away missiles are behind you and SAM distances), you begin to realize the JF-17 Jeff is a little more capable then previously thought.

Thanks for the clarification. This is really a problem for me. I was sure otherwise.
I'll try to redo the mission for the next beta update

I just finished the campaign last night and thought I would drop a note here to say thanks for enjoyable experience and well-made campaign.

- Good voiceovers, I can't think of any that didn't feel right at all

- Interesting setup and variety of tasks.  Operating out of the highway strip was definitely a fun challenge.

- I think it's the only commercial JF-17 campaign still, so I really appreciated having more of a reason to fly the jet.

- There were a couple of times when I was not sure what was being asked of me, so maybe some of the instructions could be clearer.  On the other hand I got it all figured out, so it can't have been too bad!

- I don't recall encountering any bugs, big thumbs up there!

- I hope to see another JF-17 campaign from you in the future, possibly using some of the more specialized weapons 🙂

Thanks a lot sir! I'm glad you appreciate my efforts!
Yes, I'm currently working for Apache, and then I would like to return to the JF-17 with a continuation of this story with a more complex weapon nomenclature

I can't understand your feedback)) Did all the radio dialogues seem wrong to you?

Sorry, I used a slightly confusing phrasing there! I meant it as a compliment - in some other campaigns I have found there's sometimes one or two voiceovers that just don't sound right, or don't sound like they belong with the other voiceovers in that mission. In your campaign all the voiceovers sounded good, and like they were part of the same situation, so I was complimenting the consistency of the acting and production.

As a JF-17 enthusiast, there was no reason for me not to buy this campaign. My impression is that many missions are unique to JF-17, especially destroying many ground vehicles using guided weapons such as the BRM-1 and GB-6, which I felt was very typical of the JF-17. As I rarely fly at night, the night missions were quite difficult for me, but it was good training for me. The radio communication was very realistic, and the Russian-accented English was a nice touch. But I am not an English speaker by nature, so the Russian accent made it more difficult for me to understand...

Personally, I think it would be better to add SPJ pods when equipped with air-to-air. If there is a sequel, I thought it would be better to equip the player aircraft with probes since the AI JF-17s cannot remove them, so that they can get refueling support from Russian or Chinese tankers when needed. Thanks for a good campaign.

This campaign is the first part.
Later I will continue the story with a more complex range of weapons

Hello! In the second mission, you do not need to kill the infantry!

Perhaps the WP10 target looks like infantry - but it's mortars

To destroy the primary targets marked as WP-4-7-9 with high-precision GBU weapons. To destroy the rest of the assigned targets marked as WP-5-6-8-10-11-12-13 with BRU.

If possible, explain in more detail - which goal is immortal?
You may have chosen the wrong target.

Even if you never shoot at targets - after about 10 minutes the story will continue and you can continue the mission. In this case, the flight to intercept the M2000

This seems to be a dcs bug - unfortunately I can't solve it within the mission editor.
You need to send the track to technical support

Hi,

I'm in the middle of the campaign, and I have a question, how can I find the IR designated targets? It's a bit confusing to me, it's not a laser search with the pod, I thought maybe use the night vision goggles to see some blinking lights or something, but no joy so far. It's in mission 7, but I met this situation also in mission 6, but the mission continued. Thanks for the guidance. Also I'm enjoying the campaign very much.

Thank you sir! The IR marker will be clearly visible not in multi-threading mode.
Unfortunately, the multithreading mode is still in early access and has several bugs. One of them is that the IR marker is not visible.
Turn off the multi-threading mode, and in the night vision goggles you can see the IR marker very clearly

Quick feedback about the virtual pilot mission (3):

- in the 3v3, the allied flight is trying to climb too aggressively, they climb while stalled out, and begin combat basically in a stall. Maybe start us a bit higher?

- in the fight against the F-5, please consider giving it extra weight. The F-5 AI flight model is extra broken, it has crazy unrealistic performance, and is basically harder to kill than the F-18. I guess that's not intended. I killed him on the first try so I'm not just crying here.

-in both close fights, it looks like the enemy begins behind me? Is this intended? I think the standard is to begin a guns fight with a head-on merge.
