Remove notifications

Anyone know how to remove notifications? I play on MP servers all the time, and it's hard to get good footage with that dang envelope icon popping up every time someone gets a new jet.

Surely there's a way to turn it off?

There's a keycommand to disable envelope icon completely. I couldn't recall it. Maybe it was CTRL SHIFT Y or something. It's there. Look at controls page.

Yes, as Devrim mentioned, default key is LCTRL+LSHIFT+Y.  The name of key is "Chat Show/hide" and it under "UI Layer" category.
