Spontaneous ejection (VR - Oculus Quest 2 / Pico / Reverb G2)

I've had 3 instances of the jet ejecting me out on its own. The 3 times had been in dogfights (1 in MP , 2 in SP) while looking up and left near the Face Blind handle. My settings:

That is an ejection handle that I've been using for 2 years and 10+ different modules... This spontaneous ejection happens only in the F1 and, so far when looking up and left, although I have not been able to reproduce it on demand yet.

Yes, even that I've been using it for long time, my first thought was that somehow I was accidentally activating it with the F1 only... So, believe, I've been trying to "accidentally"  pulling it enough to eject... Unsuccessfully.

Actually, spoke too soon... Watched my track again and figured out how to reproduce it on demand: pulling hard to the left while looking left and up  through the face blinds handle .

Track 1 is with my hardware ejection handle mapped and the second one is without

seems that we cross posted... I'm not experiencing that issue that I've noticed.. I'll keep an eye on it

I see what's happening in your track, but I cannot reproduce it myself.

I'm beginning to think your issue might be caused by some mouse button being pressed while you're facing the face blind handle (it's clickable and triggers the ejection). I'll keep trying nonetheless.

I was careful not to touch anything other that my sick ... But, I will do a reset of the oculus touch. There is nothing mapped but I have a suspicion of a "phantom" mapping there... Saw one (while helping a fellow pilot) figuring out an axis mapping issue with the Vive and the F1... I'll report back

Well, it is definitely related to hand controllers... I cleared the oculus touch category of the binding and the problem persisted. So, I disabled the hand controllers in VR option and was unable to reproduce the issue, then I reenabled them and boom...I was floating under my canopy.

I haven't seen this with any other module.

Interesting! Do your hand controllers constantly click things (other than the ejection handles) in the F1 cockpit, or is it just happening with the ejection handles?

By themselves? Nope, they do not click anything anywhere unless I have a full grip on them and touch the appropriated button

Had this exact same thing happen to me!! Quest 2, nothing bound to eject button, always while looking over my shoulder in a dogfight... i can add tracks tomorrow.

What I meant is: is the ejection handle the only element in the F1 to act on its own? Apparently yes.

Ah! Sorry, yes... Only that element of the F1 cockpit.

Last nigh, I looking for a way to avoid the issue (other than disabling the hand controllers), and I found that If I lean towards the HUD and then turn to look (i.e. the head set does not go through the face blind handles) the issue doesn't happen.

I really appreciate your help and time on this issue!

I just wanted to add, since i wont be able to get on my pc until this evening, that i always have the left quest controller connected, and the right controller disconnected. I havent tried without the controllers connected but there is nothing bound to the controller other than "recenter VR view" for one of the buttons.

As mentioned before the ejection happens only when I am straining my neck to look at my 6-8 oclock position.

I will try disconnecting the quest hand controller when i record tracks tonight.

I've had the same issue. Spontaneous ejections with the Quest 2, triggered occasionally when checking six or looking up.

Any fix? What I did was to remove the ejection seat pin before every flight but that is a hassle...

It didn't happen to me ... until I read this post 😂

I can reproduce it easily now. Just enter your Mirage F1 cold on ground, remove the ejection seat safety pin and have a steady look to the ejection handle above/behind your head for 5-15secs. You will see the handle pulled and you are gone.

I try to look the same way on other control in the cockpit and none are automatically activated like that when you look at them fixly.

Hope this explanation might help for troubleshooting/testing.

@Flappie, same for me that will do the trick. Thanks!

My "finger's muscle memory" finds the Ctl-E on my keyboard with the headset on. Never use the clickable handles to eject.

But that means there is a feature in the quest2 that activates some control when looking at it? If yes, it may be something that could be desactivate in Quest2 configuration? I'm new with Quest2 (and DCS by the way).

If it happens only to Quest 2 users, you might be right, yes. Please report back if you find a solution in the Quest 2 software.

But then, why doesn't it happen with any other module (official or mods)?
In the past 2 years I've flown with Oculus. I own these: Harrier, Hornet, Huey, C-101, F-5E, Mirage 2000, Warthog, Gazelle, Tomcat, HA-50, Apache, Mosquito, P-47, F-86, Yak-52 and a few mods (A-4E, T-45)... Also, evaluated (2 week trial) the Viggen and JF-17 and never seem or hear about anything similar to this issue.

Also, remember that it only seems to happen to the ejection handles over the seat on the F1... If it was a Oculus thing while interaction only with the cockpit of the F1, then I would expect to also activate other controls.

The only possibility I see, for this issue to be on the Oculus side, is some sort of a bug related to tracking position (looking up and back) ... Are there any other reports of similar issue in any other modules @Flappie? I can't recall (no coffee yet) which ones on my list have top ejection handles...
