Eisprinzessin Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 Thinking about buying this thing. 2 Questions: 1 - does the Cat has an virtual pilot? As i play VR only it is important for me 2 - what was the last sale price? Thanks Specs: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900K 3.20 GHz, RAM 128 GB, Win11 Home, RTX3080Ti

As i play VR only it is important for me 2 - what was the last sale price? Thanks Not quite sure about the wording but assuming you are asking about how the Tomcat is in vr. Short answer is it's great and the cockpit was designed with VR in mind. Resolution is obviously dependent on what you are using but I find the old steam gauges works well in VR, even if your headset is blured in close and you can't read the numbers, you can still get a good idea of where stuff is at by the needles. For more fiddly things like TACAN you can simply ask Jester to do it for you. I would recommend using the afterburner gate button option though as it makes it easier to keep finer control in BFM. It's certainly alot easier (I find) getting on the boat and refuelling in VR and I would highly recommend the Heatblur tomcat to anyone. Even at full price it is well worth it! That said, if you want to focus on the RIO seat I would recommend trackir and a screen for the better resolution. But, if its front seat your after, then Jester is your friend and will sort you out. As for sale prices I can't help you. Traditionally Heatblur didn't put the Tomcat on sale as it didnt need too and the quality of the product is worth the cost. That said it has had reductions on it during the last few sale events so you might be in luck. I'd highly recommend it, since it's release I have barely touched any other module. It has a real learning curve that makes you feel great once you start being able to throw it about confidently and get back to the boat, and Jester has a real personality, currently missing from George or Petrovich. 1
Indianajon Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 Going through the other possible variations on your question... If you mean can you show a pilots body the answer is currently no but they are working on it. You can see yourself in the mirror with one on one movement, and you can see whoever is in the backseat but you can't look down and see yourself like you can in the Spitfire for instance. Alternatively if you mean is their an AI pilot then yes there is Wolfman which is the pilot equivalent of Jester. However he is still fairly basic on what he can do and as mentioned above, if it's the RIO seat you want to master you might struggle with VR resolution. Hopefully one of the above will answer your question. 1

So it’s made, just not integrated into the distribution build yet. 2. I wanna say 20% off? But no Idea, haven’t looked in years literally. Check the News posts from Eagle Dynamics. It usually lists the discounts when a sale is going on at the bottom of the news post.

Crash * Posted August 15, 2022 Posted August 15, 2022 Unfortunately, the Tomcat is great. I didn't originally want to buy it. But heatblur has made the Tomcat simply irresistible. The sound for itself is addictive, the details are numerous and Jester is in a class by itself. The only thing I have to complain about today: HB really takes a lot of time with the VR pilot body. 1 System Specs: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, RX 6900 XT, 64GB RAM // Tobsen CM Kollektiv, VPC CM3 Throttle, VPC WarBRD Rudder Pedals, VPC T-50 CM2 + WarBRD Base VR: HP Reverb G2 Helis: UH-1H / KA-50 3 / Mi-8 / Mi-24P / SA-342 / AH-64D / OH 58D / CH-47F Jets: F-5E / F-14A/B / F/A-18C / MC-2000 / A-10C II / AV-8B / AJS 37 / MIG-21bis / F-16C / F-15E / F-4E Maps: Nevada / Persian Gulf / Normandie 2.0 / Syria / South Atlantic / Sina / Cold War Germany WWII: Spitfire / WWII Assets Pack Tech.: Combined Arms / NS430 / Supercarrier Waiting for: BO-105 / G.91R / Tornado IDS / Eurofighter
RustBelt Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 HB really takes a lot of time. End of statement.
Turd Ferguson Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 I have experienced performance issues with the Tomcat on a high end system with a Reverb G2 It took a lot of tinkering and also a VR friendly cockpit mod to finally get rid of the constant stuttering, however the Tomcat is an absolute dream and all the hours i've spent sorting out the performance has all been worth it. To echo what others have said even at full price it is well worth the money. Oh hell, let's go nuts. Swords for forty eight thousand
