walt262 Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 I was considering purchasing a used Russian Flight Helmet and was curious if I could put the Track IR 5 (3) hat clip stickers on the helmet. I was looking a putting 2 on the black rubber above the visor and one on the center metal mount. Wondering if the sensor mount would pick them up? The 2 on the rubber wouldn't have the same curvature but the top one still would. Any suggestions or thoughts????
BuzzU Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 Consider using the Pro Clip too. It works much better than the reflectors. Buzz

If you can somehow replicate the proportions of the TrackClip, it should work no problem. I also thing you should try the ProClip attached to one side. If in problem, just send me the helmet and I'll try to fix any possible issue . Saludos. Saca111

Well, full disclosure - I haven't tried the pro clip, but the basic clip works flawlessly, so I have a hard time picturing what the pro clip could add to that, except wires? On topic, I don't even think, that you need to replicate the exact proportions of the clip. Since the system works from various distances it isn't depending on a certain width of the arrangement. Given that it works with various base angles, the hight of the arrangement isn't mandatory either. The thing, I would be most interested in, is a proper replacement for the reflective foil to build myself spare parts (3D printing). I thought about crushed aluminium foil, but I'm not quite happy with it. It should be a material that gives good but diffuse reflections. BuzzU Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 The reflectors are much more light sensitive than the Pro Clip. I can leave the blinds pulled back and let in the sun with the ProClip and it tracks perfect. The reflectors will not track well in the same condition. This applies to any lighting in the room. Not just sunlight. 1 Buzz
marcost Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 You can get a wireless version of trackclip pro or convert the wired one yourself, if you know how to solder. How about aluminium tape? Not just sunlight. Can't confirm. Intense sunlight - yes true, though I avoid that anyway whilst gaming. Artificial light sources, I have no problems whatsover (I have none in my back though). I like the light weight and absence of wires and batteries. 32 minutes ago, marcost said: You can get a wireless version of trackclip pro or convert the wired one yourself, if you know how to solder. BuzzU Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 The wire doesn't bother me. I already have a wire coming off my headphones. I just tape them together. If you have a wireless headphones I can understand not wanting the wire. Buzz

I just wanted to point out, that one can have a good experience with the simple clip as well! "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
BuzzU Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 My computer is setup in my living room and the lighting doesn't work well with the hatclip. I tried it and it was frustrating. So, for me the Proclip was the answer. Buzz
walt262 Posted August 11, 2022 Author Posted August 11, 2022 I'm pretty sure I can use some 3M adhesive strips to attach the Pro Clip to the side of the helmet with no issue. Now the questions is how to go about replacing the earphones in the helmet with a USB earphones & mic. I'm sure I'd have to cut the helmet earphones out and some how secure the USB earphones with velcro or something.

I did change my reflective due to degradation (wear); I found reflective tape (tissue) like the one you can find on Police uniforms on a general store (chineese, pakinstaneese, depends on yout country), or maybe in sueing stores ( sorry, bad english). It worked perfectly, and as you suggested, I made one clip with the 3D printer and gave it to a relative and he says it works perfect, so go for it. Saludos.
