Hiob Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 That‘s not limited to the F-5 I would say. But the interesting part is, which filters and settings are you using? Pictures are beautiful! 1 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
Hiob Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Less is more! That‘s the way! I use a bit of sharpening and color correction, too. But I will try your settings as well. 2 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
Jascha Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 (edited) Honestly, I think sunset setting (lighting) has much more to do how these pictures look, than a ReShade profile. You should post version with and without to see if there's is a significant difference. Edited August 17, 2022 by Jascha
Tiger-II Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 DCS already looks awesome and you think it can be improved with a generic shader? 7 hours ago, Jascha said: Honestly, I think sunset setting (lighting) has much more to do how these pictures look, than a ReShade profile. ^This! Motorola 68000 | 1 Mb | Debug port "When performing a forced landing, fly the aircraft as far into the crash as possible." - Bob Hoover. The JF-17 is not better than the F-16; it's different. It's how you fly that counts. "An average aircraft with a skilled pilot, will out-perform the superior aircraft with an average pilot."
Jagua Posted August 18, 2022 Author Posted August 18, 2022 Really DCS looks awesome, but vanishing. The F-5 cockpit is low definition and looks weird when you zoom. Reshade here is improving sharpness and contrast and I think it's way better than the default settings! 1

It can significantly be improved. With a little bit of sharpness and colour correction, it's like you remove a grey haze from the picture. (It can be achieved by other means as well, but reshade is a mighty, easy to use tool, that can do this and a lot more if you choose so) Somehow, your choice of words let me believe, you never actually tried reshade on your own, did you? unlikely_spider Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 There is a mod in the User Files that improves on the F-5 cockpit textures that I use. I'm single player only though so I'm not sure if it's kosher for online. 1 Modules: Wright Flyer, Spruce Goose, Voyager 1

I don't need to try it. I know how it works. A little story... back in the days of that "well-known civilian sim" there were a vocal group of people who kept complaining how their sim was unstable, kept crashing, and etc.. Well they all kept listing the same few add-ons (when pushed). For a long time they wouldn't accept that such modules like reshade were causing problems. I flew the same sim with the same add-on aircraft they were and I never had any issues, because I accepted the reality that the base sim was junk and things that modified shaders and graphics rendering in non-standard ways didn't play well and only caused trouble. Not that I care what you think about it. DCS for me looks good, and I'm not going to run additional crap in the background that could potentially cause problems just to have a slightly different flavor of perception. I'm happy with how it looks now. If I want to see reality, I'll go outside. There are deeper problems with DCS that need addressing first. Graphics isn't one of them. Hiob Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Well, I have a different experience with Reshade. ...and nobody asked you to use it or did I miss something? 6 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"

Well, you were the one to open the door yourself. I do agree with you though. I've seen better results than ReShade, but they do not work anymore. Alas.

What gets me is why you are even in this thread if you hate reshade so much. You really gotta just laugh at people who just HAVE to make sure everyone else knows your dislike for said thing. Nobody cares. 4
