majorswitcher Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 that is the folder for the (amazing, really draws you into the story !!!) pdf's. What I'm searching for is where the pages are separately stored to be displayed on the kneeboard. When I open the Kneeboard, per mission I have the pages from the kneeboard pdf, and the SPINS pages. They are not in Users/Saved Games/DCS OpenBeta/Kneeboard. are they stored within the mission ?

You can usually open the mission.miz file with WinZip (or similar program), although as campaigns are encrypted I don't know if this will still work.
EndzoneCamper Posted March 29, 2024 Posted March 29, 2024 Hey, quick question: I just purchased the campaign and am excited to start flying, but wanted to read the documentation first. However I haven't managed to find the folder. When I go to my saved game, DCS, Mods, I can only see the sub-folder "Aircraft" and "tech", neither contains the campaign documentation. The campaign itself however is installed for sure, since I have already test-started the first mission. Do you have any idea where I can find the documentation (or could you potentially send it to me by DM)? Thanks!

The docs aren't in your saved game folder, they are in the main DCS install location. So for example: C:\Program Files\DCS\mods\campaigns\First In\Doc
dimi Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 This campaign is a GEM. It really fills up a large gap of DCS. That is, immersive campaign, proper radio, roles e.t.c . This is like an RPG with aircraft. I haven't been flying much lately, but this campaign made me come back and fly for hours and hours. Fantastic work on all aspects "Forest" is top man! 2

yavuzgokhan Posted April 25, 2024 Posted April 25, 2024 Hello everyone, I've just started the campaign and successfully completed the first mission. However, I'm currently experiencing performance issues, particularly during the second mission. Since the beginning of the mission, I've been encountering significant stuttering and FPS drops during the engine startup phase alongside other aircraft. Below are my system specifications. Do you have any performance enhancements you could recommend? I believe my processor is sufficient for the task. By the way, I'm running DCS with MT enabled, and I experience even more issues when running it with a single thread. When I open the menu screen with ESC and pause the simulation, all head movements become fluid again. I've also tried disabling the Tobii Eye Tracker, but I still face the same problems. CPU: 5800x3d GPU: 6900XT RAM: 64Gb 3600Mhz Storage: NVMe M.2 SSD (5000Mb Read)

Should you use any winwing equipment they can be run scripts in DCS that affect performance, so disable them as well if this applies.

However, I don't use TACVIEW, and I also use X56 as my HOTAS. I don't have any script application running in the background.

Ok thanks, did a quick search and there's a few folks on DCS who saw a little reduction in performance the last update so might just be part of that. Also make sure there's nothing running in the background thats taking resources away from windows. After that I'd try playing about with your settings, you might find you want to run on lower settings for the campaign as it can be demanding when there's a lot going on. I found a good guide here: https://www.openflightschool.de/mod/book/view.php?id=236

Negativghostrdr Posted May 7, 2024 Posted May 7, 2024 I'm having trouble getting started with this campaign. I have turned on the power and contacted tower requesting startup. There is no answer. Then I continue startup without clearance and get a 'next time do not start up without clearance' type of message. I initially set power to battery, thinking 'aren't you supposed to start the jet first before going to full power?' but deciding to just go with the flow, I did switch to Power on before contacting the tower. No Joy.

No Joy. You need to go to main power first on the battery switch, then open the radio menu and make sure you select the F10 menu option, not the F5 ATC option. This is a common mistake, the campaign uses the F10 custom menu for all comms, the default F5,F2 etc menus are not used. Hope that helps! 1
Negativghostrdr Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 Ha! I figured that out as I tried again. This is awesome so far! Thank you very much. 1
Aronis Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Just fired up my gaming computer for first time in MONTHS. Updated everything. Fired up DCS and restarted Mission 2. It's acting wonky. I'll have to try again tomorrow. When I open the com menu, then F10 I only get F1 Immortal all, or Prior Menu or Exit. No Ground.......oddd Mike
Aronis Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 Just kick myself for letting it update ANYTHING. Instructions say switch on power to BATTERY....but if I switch to Main POWER I got the F10 menu prompt for request startup. The com not working properly "hit space bar to continue." Why did I let it update. Now the game is basically FUBAR. Mike
Aronis Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 Update..... What I figured out..... 1. The radio presets are not working, I found that if I manually enter the frequency from the kneeboard data, I can get it to work, I was able to get all the proper dialogue up to steering point 3 when I bailed for dinner. 2. Data Link not working, I noticed it in flight so tried to turn it off and on again but I could not see my wingman 4. Switching main power on instead of just to Battery got me the first 'request engine start' prompt on the menu. So, do I need to just reinstall everything???? (other note, my modification to default Kneeboard position was reset with the DCS update, so have to redo that thing.) Mike
Aronis Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 Did DCS Repair and that got much of the particular issues resolved accept for the Data Link not showing my wingman. I think I'll remove the module and re install it next. Mike
Gunnar81 Posted August 21, 2024 Posted August 21, 2024 Do you have mods? If so, uninstall them all if you plan to play singple player campaigns. They mess up all kinds of stuff unfortunately.

It worked perfectly when I first installed it, I worked through the first two missions (several times each) to learn the weapons used and try my best to actually be able to target LOL. I had been away for a few months and just fired it up because it was raining out....anyway I did the latest DCS update, update for Voice attack, updates for TrackIR and did firm wear updates on my three MDF1's. Then ran the program and found the issues. Doing the DCS_updater.exe Repair fixed several issues with Mission 2 but not the Data Link. I'll work on it this weekend again. It's just frustrating because of how much I had forgetting about the weapon systems having gotten from "<profanity>ty" to "Half decent with it" months ago. And now a software issue. Mike

Aronis Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 Gunnar81 I reinstalled FIWOS and when I fired it up I was getting many frequent USB reconnects as the game came up. I had unplugged everything to do a firmware update last week on the three USB MDF1's and when I plugged everything back in, I changed the order I had it on originally in the USB powered hub. I changed it back to the order I think I had and it seemed to back to normal. There must be a proper best sequence of the USB items. I ran mission two again and the data link is not showing my wingman. I flew the mission. All the dialogues were correct and flight was correct. I could visually see the wingman behind me. Needless to say I could not target anything as I have forgotten the nuances to targeting and firing since I had not flown in months. The only thing not working is the data link. I can do List Enter and 1 and turn it on and off, it goes to Fine from Course but does not show the other planes. Perhaps I did something wrong, but before it was just On and Worked without me having to turn it on from the List Menu. It's just too frustrating to set up and actually use. Probably just move on to something like reading a book. Mike

Mike Hey, not sure if this will solve but go to the datalink menu in the ded and press the 6 a couple times on the ufc to cycle the gps on and off. That sometimes works for me to get datalink to show.
Aronis Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 So I ran "Hardware and Device" trouble shooter from Terminal (Admin) msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnosis and that ran and just told me "windows updates are disabled" so I enabled it and let it run. No reboot so I did not think anything was 'fixed.' Fired up DCS and just went to "instant action", worked flawlessly for almost 2 hours. So decided to fire up the Campaign, Mission 2, FIWOS, ran normally, it even briefly showed my wingman on the data link briefly, or I thought it did 02 behind me, did not last, the data link stopped showing my wingman, and just as I was getting ready to drop a JDAM on the first SA8, bang, disconnected my controllers. Such a pain to trouble shoot. So tomorrow I am going to try mission 3, maybe mission 2 is fubar? I don't know. Mike
